This is shimmering golden beer with champaigne-like carbonation and big rocky white head that is slow to go and leaves great fractured lacing. Smell is great fresh baked bread backed by spicy noble hop and just a note of sweetness.

Man this is good. It has a slightly deeper malt taste than alot of other lagers which helps temper hop bitterness. Metallic taste is rather big here but it isn't harsh and actually kind of works. Its a little like licking a new penny. Alcohol comes out a bit toward the end. Every now and then an almost fruity taste pops up through the light sweetness. I guess this is kinda flawed and funky but its also flavorful and smooth and I like it. Mouthfeel is full-bodied and lively and I doubt this beer will last long.

Presentation: 500ml brown bottle. No freshness date. There's a "beer thermometer" on the back label. Basically refrigerate and wait until the Zywiec logo appears in the box. When it does, it's at its ideal drinking temperature.

Appearance: Clear and bright pale golden beer with a pure white foam head.

Smell: Metallic with a herbal/floral hop aroma. A bit yeasty and "skunky" too.

Taste: Light, crisp and refreshing up-front. Malt sweetness is thin. Carbonation lends a soda-water type taste and feel on the palate. Metallic, biscuit, dimethyl sulfide (skunky), salt and a strange bitterness follow. Finish is raw, dry and astringent with lingering tannins.

Notes: Kind of blah. I mean it's okay, but there's nothing shouting "Hey! Todd! Have another!"

Pours a clear, pale, straw color with a decent white head that retains fairly well. Smells of cereal grains, yeast, and a touch of earthy hops. Tastes of doughy malt, lots of yeast, light noble hops. Light and crisp mouthfeel. It's not bad. I'd take it over a BMC beer. It's along the lines of a Heineken.

Odd little coloured paper thermometer on the back label … I’d rather see a freshness date than odd gizmos. Good frothing white head and very good clarity for a beer that comes from Eastern Europe. Orangey and mildly skunky aroma from the hops due to an obvious pasteurization or over boiled hop, a little grassy in the nose. Big fresh cut hay flavours from the hops as well as a think graininess … both flavours don’t let up and try to dominate each other. Lightly metallic and salty in the palate. Mild crispness with a light body, malt flavours are mostly dry and grainy, the only sweetness is upfront and it does not stay around for long. As the graininess kicks in the hops double up with bitterness and show some astringency though in a semi cleansing way to the palate. Comparable to the usual mass produced imported lager.

500mL bottle that claims it's a pint (568mL). Two jovial Polish folks in traditional dress mazurka around the shield that says "1856".

Appearance: Foaming curls top this voluptuous bleach-blonde lady. Straw-yellow, like Marilyn Monroe. Not bubbly like some, rather more mature in fact. Good head.

Smell: Adult and sophisticated. Smells like she works in a brewery, but still pretty clean and crisp.

Taste: Different from your average eurotrash bawd, but ones like this are all the same, aren't they? Slightly chalky like Queen Elizabeth I, but also a little bitter and bland, like Queen Elizabeth II.

Mouthfeel: Creamy and lascivious. The extent of her desire to get you drunk, however, leads to a bad taste in your mouth. Still, not a bad mouth to feel.

Drinkability: She's pretty easygoing now, but think about the future. You don't want this one hanging around until you're pushing up daisies from the floor of the pub. Who can say no to a flaxen-haired Pole?

Overall: Much like Heineken really. Buy this for the folk-dancing mascots only.

Appearance: gold in color, one inch head, medium carbonation, clear

Smell: grass and a bit of skunk

Taste: grass and sour malt

Mouthfeel: smooth, medium high carbonation, semi-bitter, slightly watery

Drinkability: For the style this is decent. It is somewhat more tasty than others in this category. I would have this again if I was looking for a beer in this style, but otherwise would pass.

500ml bottle from the LCBO, sporting a "beermometer" on the back that I totally didn't notice until long after I poured it.

Nice golden hue, clear and bright, with a reasonably tall head that descended into a fine ring.

Nose is sweet, sporting pale malts and just a touch of citrus/herbal hops. Not bad, but pretty faint.

Compared to most of the other Eastern European lagers I've had recently, this one wasn't bad. Fairly sweet, a bit of grain, and mild bitter herbal hop finish. Slight metallic twang which becomes more prevalent as it warms, so try not to let that happen. Thin, zippy carbonation.

I guess this brew is a cut above some of the other Polish/Ukrainian/Baltic mass-market lagers, but that isn't really saying much.

Pours clear gold with a bubbly white head. Stale hay-and-sugar nose. Thin but sweet taste. Grainy and saccharine, and very watery, just like its mouthfeel. Feels and tastes cheap. Better than a Budweiser. Probably would not drink again. Doesn't come close to its Porter cousin.

Poured in a chilled pint glass...

Appearance - This is one of the cleanest looking beer, very clear and very appetizing! small white foam head that disappears fairly quickly, however leaves a nice amount of lacing. Carbonation is present, not a lot but nice size bubbles.

Smell - slight smell of the barley malts used in this beer, i can actually smell grassy undertones. VERY fresh smelling beer.

Taste - real clean tasting beer, not a lot of flavour, but clean tasting. The aftertaste is almost none existent.

Mouthfeel - not a lot happens here, carbonation doe not increase, flavour remains the same.

Drinkability - I wonder is this like Heineken's "slow" cousins beer...jealous of the successful family but just couldn't make it happen. overall its just a clean tasting beer that i would not hunt down.

A 500ml bottle with a BB of March 2012. ABV stated as 5.6%. Appears to have been destined for the US market.

Poured into a tulip pint glass. A clear golden colour with low carbonation and some floating sediment. Forms a decent head of white foam with a fine texture; this remains for a minute or two before disappearing. Aroma is almost non-existant - light malt with a hint of grain and perhaps a whisper of noble hops. An underlying note of stewed veg appears as it warms.

Tastes of light malt with a finish that resembles solvent/alcohol. Notes of stewed leaves/veg in the background, and a harsh solvent note. This worsens noticibly as it warms. Mouthfeel is smooth, with light tingling from the carbonation. Aftertaste of stewed veg/leaves and solvent.

Not a brilliant beer by any standard. Too many unpleasant off-notes lurking in the background. If you're gonna drink it, I recommend keeping it ice cold....
