2.1/5  rDev -31.4%
look: 4.25 | smell: 2 | taste: 1.75 | feel: 2 | overall: 2.5

Appearance: Poured with a finger of head the boasts decent lacing and moderate retention. The body is a nice gold color with steady consistent carbonation.

Smell: It has a bit of an odd funk to it, as it has a smell reminiscent of popcorn kernels that didn't pop but settled at the bottom of the bowl mixed in with a wet grass and flour note. Didn't really react to warming either way.

Taste: It starts with a really rough barley the aforementioned popcorn kernel husks. It then briefly offers a splash of sweeter malt before being drowned out of a sulfuric muddy hop taste. It's palpatable, but I'd have to be desperate to keep drinking.

Mouthfeel: That muddy note lingers and won't go away. The awkward shifting of the beer's taste doesn't help things either, especially since the carbonation seems to accent the beginning and end of the beer, which are coincidentally the worst parts of it.

Drinkability: Wholly crap is this stuff gassy, and it doesn't settle down well at all. This is medium bodied, which I don't mind in a Lager so long as it's a pleasure to drink. At least there's not a lot of dry aspects to it.

Final Thoughts: This is the kinda beer that makes people flock to Macro lagers, as I can see someone trying it and not ever wanting to try import beer again. It's not very smooth, not very flavorful, and all around not very good. It got the drain a little bit over the half way point, so you'll definitely want to pass on this one.

Interesting packaging and design of the bottle although I found the taste to be just average. Since it was moderately priced and a rare find here in Melbourne, I bought it out of curiosity. Will try to find the Porter next time which seems to be more popular.

I noticed this beer at my local BevMo for very cheap, and after asking my friend from Poland about it, I had decided to give it a try. I must say, for its price it's actually really good, however overall, compared to other beers it's just okay, nothing more.

I usually like a darker more bitter ale such as Stone or Arrogant Bastard, It's not too often I go for a lager, so I will admit my rating may not be the most fair.

Appearance wise, it's pretty typical, dark yellow with a strong head.

The smell was pretty neutral to me. While it did have a mildly grainy aroma, it wasn't prominent. Overall rather pleasant, but nothing that really stood out for me.

Taste was pretty good. It reminded me a lot of a typical beer someone might drink who doesn't usually go for a craft beer. I did like it a bit more though, it had a sort of light quality to it, but it wasn't sweet. Overall, not bad, but again nothing amazing, not overly hoppy but a tad wheaty.

Mouthfeel was pretty standard as well, it went down easily, didn't tingle my tongue or anything.

Overall, it's not a bad beer, it does feel a tad generic, but it's something I could definitely drink. I would take Zyweic over Heineken, Amstel, Stella, etc not only because it overall I feel is a better beer, but also since it is much cheaper.

Small head with some lacing. Not lots but enough to be respectable. Smells grainy and pleasant. No noticeable hops or herbal notes. Taste is well balanced. Somewhat sweet with a mild bitter finish. Quite a hearty and enjoyable lager flavour. Rather mild though. Quite a good pale lager at a really low price and very easy availability (most corner shops in London stock it.) Doesn't ever really disappoint and makes a better choice by far than Heineken, Stella etc.

My mark out of a hundred would be 75.
