Poured from a 12oz. bottle into a tasting glass.

The color is a dark amber/gold with a slight finger of foamy white head and no lacing.

The smell is slightly bready with sick boozy aroma. Some slight corn aroma in the background that can't make things too positive.

The taste is tangy with a boozy flavor that is like strong vegetable with a bread like flavor.

The feel is light and drinkable and is smooth but leaves an unpleasant aftertaste on the tongue long after it is swallowed.

After two sips I am looking to wash my mouth out.

No date, no freshness info.

A- Super clear, light straw colored pour. Zero head, zero lacing.

S- Dirty gym socks and beef au jus. Really doesn't smell like anything I've ever encountered before.

T- Slight grass, with a strong bread pudding taste to it. I keep smelling gravy in this.

M- Light bodied, decent carbonation.

O- This may be Poland's #1 beer but it's heading down the drain.

BB 10-4-06. Good poorout with lasting head and nice and clear golden beer. Nose is lot less; very papery, sweetish, oxidised and a far from fresh maltarome. Taste is as the smell, oxisidised maltiness, sweetish empty and hardly any bitterness. Empty watery and unfresh mouthfeel makes drinkability to undrinkable. One of my worst lager expiriences recently; one to avoid!

Date tasted: July 12, 2013... Glassware: Baltika stange... Occasion: waiting for Matt and Jerry to arrive to begin the golf weekend....Appearance: pale, sallow golden body; large bubbles collect and release for the glass's bottom; frothy, soupy uneven white head that leaves uneven tracings... Aroma: odd, pungent doughy malts leave a locker room funk in the nostrils; not thee fresh pilsner hops hoped for... Palate: oily, almost buttery consistency with minimal presence at the teeth; drinkable, yes--this could be a backyard barbecue accompaniment ...Taste: a rather nondescript lager, with little profile and discussable points; almost perfectly rinsing the mouth... Overall: being a parishioner of a Polish church, the Zywiec is a presence at adult functions for sure; the bottle trumpets itself as Poland's #1 beer, but unfortunately Budweiser does similarly in America, and the parallel may be fitting...not bright or crisp, not refreshing enough to garner future interest, this beer files in behind many better, more engaging lagers...

Zywiec beer.
500 ml bottle

My 1st Polish beer!

Appearance- light yellow almost clear with a soapy white head. Head didn't hold up very long.
Smell- sweet, cheap corn. Light malt.
Taste- Wow is this bad!! Bleeech! Sweet, yet bitter. A cheap lager. Meister Brau comes to mind.
Mouthfeel- bitter like battery acid.

Overall- absolutely undrinkable!! Man I know they drink antifreeze and petrol in Poland but this is worse!!!

Served at fridge temperature in a pilsner glass. Complete with a beer thermometer on the label, give me a break. Is this a beer or a pregnancy test?

Best before 3/28/07.

Appearance- Pale to medium gold, very little action inside the glass. The soapy head stands at about an inch after settling on a good pour. Nice crag, sticky hair-thin lacing all down the glass.

Smell- Sweet adjunct and cereal nose, some floral hops are fighting their way through the forest of Cloy. The nose is syrupy and terribly artificial.

Taste- As close to cheap malt liquor as I've ever tasted... well, except for maybe Faxe. I borrowed one of these for a tasting, just to review... and it's awful. Cloying palate completely eradicates any notable hop or malt character, and believe me I can feel the alcohol halfway through this bottle. Fusel alcohol and corn.

Mouthfeel/Drinkability- Lackluster in mouthfeel, thin and watery... yet still syrupy from the elevated sugars and resulting ABV. A lead zeppelin.

Maybe this could be a lawn mower beer, it has some hops and malt but not a good mix, its lacking something. The bottle has a "beer thermometer" on it, beer does not need a gimmick like this if its good.

Had this at Blue Mountain Beer Fest last year for the first time. Poured out into a small cup that was given out upon entry. The beer poured out as a pale yellow, nothing overly exciting there. The aroma was a little skunky, Flavor was on the bitter side also a little light. Nothing made a major impact on me from this beer. I probably won't be seeking this one out anytime soon.

Dark, see through golden in color, absolutely no head. Faint grainy hops, touches of biscuit notes on the nose, blah. Raw, grainy malt, grassy/hay like tastings in the initial quaffs. All signs point towards another bland Euro-lager. Very cloying and massive on-slaught flavorings of corn and malt infused adjuncts. Wet, stale cardboard and more hay like offerings. Bland and stale, even when fresh. Skip, unless your playing Scrabble.

this is my second in beers of eastern europe score at the lcbo. so far so bad.

pours light yellow with a smal white head. sweet malt. fizzy carbonate. chalky powdery sweetness. like fundip candy.

a tiny bitter bump at the end is instantly washed away in fizzy sweetness. like those peach fuzz candies. not nice.

terrible aftertaste lingers on and on.
must pour out.

After going to a so called nice beer bar in Chicago, which I did not like at all, I stumbled upon a small Polish bar in Chicago's Wicker Park. The young bartendar barely spoke English and showed me this as one of the only beers available. What the heck, how many Polish beers will I drink?

Like many Euro lagers, this one was not impressive in anay catagories. One of the few beers I could not even finish, dropping it to one of my lowest reviews yet. Best part was the bar itself, not the beer.

This was recommended to me from a friend, and I'd never seen it before so I figured I'd give it a shot...I probably won't be taking recommendations from
this person again...lol...In appearance, this beer pours a pale pale yellow, with a 2-3 finger white foamy head that thins quick...Taste is wheaty with light hops and water...the warmer it is the more sour it gets. It's thin and crisp in the mouth. I was really in the mood for a tasty surprise tonight, and I must say that I was let down...nonetheless, I did only spend 8 bucks and this is a fairly drinkable beer so it wasn't a complete loss, just a little dissappointed.

A: Pale gold body with two fingers of white fluffy head. Retention is poor and leaves little lacing.

S: Aroma is filled with straw and some thing else off.

T: Corn/straw don't know what to call it and something else really disgusting. I would have thought it was a infected beer, but a number of them tasted the same.

M: Light bodied with high carbonation. Some alcohol present and that bad taste lingers for ever.

D: Disgusting beer in my mind, I tried hard to finish one bottle, never will again.

Pours a straw gold color, slightly hazy. Head is bubbly, and not long lasting. Smell is of grassy malt and light skunk. Taste is cliche euro lager. Grass, small hops, nothing interesting. Not even a good fallback, I would rather (shudder) have a Budweiser.

Poured a short, but sturdy, bright white head. Streams of tiny bubbles rise through the glowing golden beers. Weak aroma of sweet grain, or corn, or something foul. The sweetness carries over into the flavor and doesn't allow anything else to poke through. Well, maybe there is a bit of herbal hop flavor towards the end, but the finish is grossly sweet. I've seen good beer in cans here in Germany, and I figured this would be a nice Pilsner type beer. Boy was I wrong. This is like the European version of malt liquor.

Imagine a Hamms beer made in Poland.

Just dont buy it. It was cheap and i never had it so I experimented but put it this way, if I need the room in the fridge I'll toss it. The taste is bland and metallic, what taste there is. Theres no lacing after an unimpressive pour and a light carbonated look.

Its not "bad" beer it just isnt "good" beer.

Starts nice, golden, clear, with a white head, but about thirty seconds later, no head, no lacing, no nothing.
It is hard to write about anything else, it is like the aroma, body, taste all went away with the head, perhaps I should have gobbled everything in those first thirty seconds....
Very thin, light, little aroma of hops (maybe), tastes like watered down beer. It is impressive how tasteless it is at 5.7 ABV.
Skip it, lots of better stuff out there.

Had this beer on tap at a road side inn in West Poland. Served in a tall pils glass, cool.

A-Thick white head, gold yellow body.

S-some medicinal and floral smells, some veggie.

T-sweet grain front and a light non-descript hop finish.

M-light and very thin

D-I look at this as the "Bud" of Poland. When in Poland, I will go for other choices.

I tried this beer on March 12, 2008 after purchasing from one of my local LCBOI outlets. The beer poured a nice translucent gold colour with a minimal white head. The aroma was mainly grainy malts with nothing else. The mouthfeel mwas medium bodied with ample carbonation. The flavour was similar to the aroma in that it was very malty with very little other discernable flavours. This beer is readily available in Canada, but is simply an average brew at best. Not something I would consider buying again.

I wasn't sure for this beer but after i read the other reviews i was sure this was the one. This beer is VERY sweet compared with other European Lagers. If you prefer strong types of beers and bitter ones then this one is not suggested at all.

Pleasant light gold, but very little in the way of a head. No lace. Nicely carbonated though. Good bubble show.

Smells yeasty and sweet with a trace of hops.

Smooth and soft on the mouth. Noticeably sweet. Finishes bitter and slightly hoppy. Not hugely flavourful – a gentle, sweet sort of thing. A little too sugary to enjoy a whole bunch off. Like drinking flat, syrupy soda pop after a while. Couldn't really finish it. Get it while it's cold.

If you remember this beer it'll be for the novelty label that shows a red Zywiec logo when it cools down to proper drinking temperature. Cover it with your thumb to warm it up, let go, watch it magically re-appear. And that's pretty much the highlight reel for this one.

Interesting beer. It pours a yellow color with a short white head. The aroma is interesting, sweet bready smell. It smells kind of like Malta Goya - malty and a little pruney. The taste at first, is like the smell. It then mellows out for a less offensive taste. It is nicely carbonated for a beer like this. Good mouthfeel but not a very drinkable taste. I would not recommend this beer but it was interesting to have one of these.

Appearance: Typical european style lager. Bright yellow-gold color. Although the initial head poured surprisingly thick using a cognac snifter it quickly faded down leaving a thin lace.

Smell: Also has the stringent smell of most european style lagers. Not much worthy of note here. Reminds me of Heineken and Beck's.

Taste: Again, like every other european lager, Zywiec is thoroughly underwhelming. There is the smallest kick of hops on the back end but other than that its exceedingly average. Perhaps I've gotten too used to deep, flavorful stouts and porters but this bit of polish brew is almost indistinguishable from other mainstream european lagers. That being said, I would prefer a Zywiec over a Heineken.

Mouthfeel: Easy and smooth. Nothing terribly noteable.

Drinkability: Although it is drinkable, I don't find myself particularly craving this beer nor do I find it very refreshing. I personally have found that drinking directly from the bottle is preferable to using a glass. Just like I wouldn't drink heineken in a glass, I would prefer Zywiec out of a bottle.

Overall this beer is thoroughly underwhelming and doesn't stand out much. If I was planning on getting tipsy with a few friends, however, this brew would likely be a step above other beers of this style.

Freshness date clearly marked on bottle (reviewed bottle well within the fresh by date)

A- Crystal clear and bubbly, no head to speak of, but surprisingly there is some lacing. This beer is very clean and refreshing looking.

S-Fermented grains, a trace of pumpkin and skunk, maybe whole grain nut bread as well.

T- Starts off rather bitter, astringent, and a little skunky. The initial taste lasts longer than is pleasant, and after it comes an almost complete lull in flavor. After a long wait, the toasty, malty aftertaste shows up. There is some nice biscuit in the aftertaste as well. After drinking about half a glass of this, a sort of salty metal taste hung around in my mouth between sips. I have only experienced that with the worst Mexican beers.

M- Bubbly, not much else. The bubbles are on the large side, there is little body to this beer.

D- Drinkability is fine, not especially good but certainly not bad. Average.

Overall: There are better choices for Euro Pale Lagers.

Poured from a 500ml bottle.

L - Light thin head that dissapears quickly. A very thin and clear gold to orange colour.

S - very light on the smell. Sweet malts and some grains. Nothing special at all.

T - initial sweet malts with a more bready after taste.

M - Light body, initial burst of carbonation that settles down in the mouth pretty quickly
