Introduced in 2007, the 6288 Stout is our winter season specialty beer. It is a rather lengthy process to brew the 6288 Stout. It is brewed with 5 different malted barleys, using American and French hops. Keeping with the Tuckerman tradition, it is cold-conditioned, dry-hopped and bottle conditioned using the krausening process. The fermentation takes about two weeks, twice the time of our other beers and conditioning takes three months! It’s worth the wait, as the extra time gives this special brew time to mellow, offering a very smooth dark, malty flavor.

I am really not sure where this one came from, but I apparently picked it up recently and saw it sitting in the fridge so I grabbed for it last night while watching the game. Served chilled and poured into a pint glass this one was consumed on 10/20/2009.
Really nice pour, very typical for the style with a deep dark black look to it and a nice head of maybe two inches that came up and over the top with some ease. Settling down it left a decent amount of lacing on the sides, but nothing spectacular though it did retain a good bit of the puff of tan on top. The aroma was nice, well blended mix of chocolate and roasted malts, hints of light coffee notes and a decent bit of dark fruit note carrying over. This was pretty much par for the course with the flavor. Started out very smooth with a rich and well defined chocolate note that dominated early before mellowing with a nice but of vanilla and coffee notes. Small touch of hops catching up right there at the end were enough to make it just slightly bitter, but overall it was a smooth, creamy and very session able stout.
I would have no issue with trying this one again as it went down quite nicely and really left a soft, sweet note in the end. Very well done.

Poured from a 16oz can into a glass.. Pours a deep dark brown with a ruby hue when held to the light. It is topped by a nice thick creamy off white foamy head that has staying power. The smell is of dark malts and caramel with a taste that follows suit. Over a good solid American style stout. It is worth a re-visit.

Draught @ Brewery: This one pours an opaque dark brown. There was no head or lacing. Good nose: chocolate and some roastiness. The taste is good. Some chocolate, roasted malts, touch of bitterness, medium body. Very smooth.

The pour is dark brown with a modest tan head that leaves a touch of lacing as it fades. And it fades.
The aroma is roasted sweet malts, the tiniest hint of cherry, maybe a papery thing, and a low earthy hop profile.
The body is medium of better.
The taste is rich, malty, and sweet with a feint cantaloupe-like fruity finish. It does not linger long but I get it. They have not released this beer in many years and I am pleased to see that they brought it back.

Poured from a grolsch bottle 2 weeks after it was tapped. Kept in cold conditions, and allowed to breath approximately two minutes before being poured into a tulip glass. Just the right amount of carbonation: boasts a creamy mocha head that sinks rapidly, leaving a thin ring around the perimeter. Dark, black, coffee color. Roasty coffee and baked bread aroma. Upon tasting, you get dark chocolate with some esters of raspberry. Overall, a solid stout, even after being stored in a grolsch bottle for two weeks.
