The brew is dusky dusty brown, has a small off-white head leaving little lacing but some curtains.

Weak leather smell, spices, yeast.

The taste starts sweet, raisins, sherry, ripe banana, spices, cardamom, apple peel.

Little carbonation, soft and slightly sticky, a very faint dry finish.

A standard Belgian yeast strong ale, not bad but not outstanding.

The beer makes a fizzing sound while being poured. The low compact head is pale brown; the somewhat hazy liquid is warm brown with an orange edge. No lacing.

The smell is yeasty with mixed fruit esters: Orange peel, apricot jam, matured bananas and a hint of kiwi. Sweet notes of jelly fruit candy. Hints of tobacco, brown bread, mixed spices and matured cheese.

The taste is phenolic-spicy and yeasty with a strong yet smooth sweetness. Some dried fruits and a fresh-tart touch of rhubarb. The body is quite weak for the strength. Alcohol emerges and grows in the aftertaste. The sweetness is milder, making room for clean bitter notes, some more tart fruits and matured cheeses. Wheat flour in the finish.

The carbonation is strong; the bubbles very small. The liquid is a bit sticky.

An OK brown Belgian ale. A bit thin. I thing it will gain enormously of a few years in the cellar.

A: Pours murky brown with rich hues of red. A very small tan head dissipates instantly, almost no lacings.

S: Rich sweet notes of dark dried fruits, lots of cherry kernel bitterness. Yeast and spices, but on the lighter side.

T: Some wheat? - ripe bananas dominates the taste at first, but then there's yeast and spices. Sour.

M: Aftertaste is sour and slightly bitter. Body is full and carbonation is low.

O: Quad is a very complex and difficult style, this time the people at Slottskällans doesn't produce anything that stands out. At best this could pass for a standard Quad, but probably that's just me trying to be kind...
