Notes & Commercial Description:
Beer added by: beerguy101 on 08-16-2003

A full bodied, full flavored black beer topped with a creamy brown head. Sweet chocolaty overtones are balanced by a subtle malt & hop bitterness. Served under nitrogen pressure to provide the smoothest taste.

A - poured with one finger of tan foam on an opaque, black body. The head settles slowly and leaves decent lace.

S - sweet, roasted malt with notes of bittersweet chocolate and caramel.

T - dark, sugary malt up front, some caramel and smoky molasses in the middle. Finishes with dark brown sugar, chocolate, and moderate bitterness.

M - medium thick body, moderate carbonation, and a slightly sweet finish.

D - not bad, but lacking in complexity and overly sweet. More rotated barley character would go a long way toward balancing out and improving this beer. (564 characters)

I had this on tap at the brewery in Flagstaff, AZ. It poured very dark brown, but not black with a creamy long-lasting tan head. It had a highly aromatic sweet-roast scent, and a full-bodied deep flavor which was complex but not strong. Mainly blends of chocolate and caramel roast dominated the taste. (302 characters)

Dark brown color. Small head. Aroma is malty and very chocolately. A full bodied stout. Malts are chocolately and roasted. Touches of coffee and vanilla. Well balanced. Nice finish. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet (267 characters)
