Well, this is the beer store closest to my house, but I don't find myself here very often. I'm not big on giving my money to big corporations, but aside from that...

The selection is decent, they have a few things that are harder to find around here, such as North Coast. Lots of local stuff, which is a plus. Bigger beer section than other Total Wine locations I've been in.

If memory serves me correctly, I've only been asked if I needed help once when I was in here. That and no one here seems to know all that much about any of the beer.

Of course most stuff is going to be cheaper here, but saving a penny today will cost you in the end... in the form of smaller, nicer, friendlier, places like City Beverage who really have your best interests as a beer drinker at heart going out of business if places like this push hard enough.

Your typical total wine store. You can say what you will but you can usually find something in any one of these stores. That being said, I made a quick trip in on my way into town today. I have a full week up here and a very busy traveling list ahead! Very much the same as the store in my hometown, with a few selection changes. DFH and Founders were nice to see, but I thought the 750.s were lacking. Prices seemed in line with the rest of the world. Again dont try and ask for help, but it is still a good place to drop into if you need a quick fix.

Stopped in on my trip to Winston-Salem for the Sexual Chocolate release.

It is your typical Total Wine store. There is a beer section to the left of where you walk in. There is an isle and a half or so of singles you can mix. The selection was just above average. They did have some bombers and 750's but nothing too great.

The bottles they did have were priced pretty good. It was nice to see 4 packs of founders for very good prices.

Overall just okay. City beer is a much better spot, and it is in downtown Winston-Salem.

Ah Total Wine, the varitable Wal-Mart of Beer and Wine. Where you can find some great deals and let them have some great steals if you are not careful.

The quality of there selection is great for NC. They have six packs, some singles, make your own six packs, pint and 22oz bottles, as well as 12 packs and cases of macros. Their service is questionable. I was in there for 20 minutes and not once did somebody even acknowledge my presence let alone ask me if I needed help. And on my previous visits the staff's knowledge is suspect and basic.

Total Wine also heavily practices a strategy called Loss Leader, meaning they sell a product that everybody else has for pennies less than it costs them hoping to get you in the store and buying the items that others don't have at huge premiums.

Please take into account I have a strong bias against Total and their corporate practices, but they do have a good selection and stuff you can't find else where.

I take my money to local stores.

This is the first real beer store I have been to since moving to North Carolina for the summer. I was truly shocked when I walked in and saw the wine selection. I made my way over to the beer selection and saw about what I expected. There were plenty of brews I had never heard of before and there were also the typicals seen in most places. They did have a fair singles collection. I noticed there were probably some old singles floating around (I saw some dogwood from atlanta which has been out of business for getting close to 9 months now). Prices seemed a bit high. I can get Highland products in Atlanta cheaper than I could hear. Service was basically non existant. This one lady walked by me nearly 15 times and never said a word to me or acknowledged I was there. The guy at the register was very friendly though.

Overall not a bad stop if you happen to be in the area, but probably won't find much that you couldn't get elsewhere.

This was a standard Total Wine location, if you've been to others you'll know what to expect. Actually that's not fair, this particular location had slightly less selection than others I've been to (mainly thinking of the Atlanta area locations). Maybe 150 American craft beers, 70 Belgian and a smattering of other countries. Just a guesstimate but probably not too far off.

Everything was available as singles without excessive fee, which is not the case at City Beverage. So if you just want a single of a beer I'd look here first.

Total Wine in Winston-Salem has improved quite a bit over the past couple of years. They actually have a pretty decent selection these days. They have a wide variety of American craft beers in both four/six pack and 22/750s. There is a decent selectin of imports as well. There is a large selection of singles to make your own six pack divided into two sections. There is a small section of current seasonals and a larger selection of year round brews. The seasonals are usually recent, but be wary of the year round singles. Many have been sitting and are out of date.

Located in a small shopping center near a Carrabba's.

The beer section is on the far left side of the store after you walk through the door.

There's a small refridgerated section of 5-6 coolers with the big names (Samuel Adams, Sierra Nevada, Macros, local NC brews) and then several shelves of singles and six packs. The singles are all priced individually, so no discounts for buying a sixer. There's a really great selection. Some of the stuff I got: Cantillion, St Bernadus (they have 750s & 4-packs), Great Divide Pale ale + raspberry wheat + ESB, Anchor steam, Sierra Nevada wheat, etc. There's a good assortment of the more popular Belgian beers.

Some prices are better than City Beverage, but mostly they're the same, give or take a buck or two. I actually preferred this store, as it was better lit, and well organized.

Nothing to say about the service one way or the other. Not rude, not friendly. It was just there.

I wish it wasnt a chain, as I'd much rather support an independent business, but this was the best beer store I visited in the W-S area.

Located in a small shopping center near a Carrabba's.

Quality: OK store layout first.... Beer section is on the far left side of the store after you walk through the door, couple of aisles. This like the name says is Total Wine with some beer, so wine is the focus.

Service: Little to none to speak of...

Selection: I felt the selection was very good... I grabbed 3 six packs and a few bombers (Main focus for me was things I cannot get in VA). All the big names are there but I was surprised the number of foreign beers from Russia, Netherlands, Germany & Belgians. Lots to choose from.

Value: Pretty reasonable... Singles are priced individually so there is no special price for a sixer. Still the prices on some stuff was better than City Beverage. If you cannot find it here go check out City Beverage.

A very nice chain store I wish I had in my area....

I have found when i ask about wine the service here is Johnny on the spot! When I ask about the beer there seems to be like one "beer guy" who we have to hunt down, and even then he is tethered to his trusty computer.
I still get carded here on occasion which makes me smile!
The beer selection is great! the service is so-so, and the prices are good.
It is well lit, and they have the beer separate from the wine so I don't have to catch the looks from the wine people as I pack my cart with some amazing goodies!
