Pours a deep golden color with about a cm of creamy white head that clings to and laces the glass all the way down. Smells sweet and citrusy and a little floral. Not too bad. The taste is very sweet and citrusy, almost like...sprite? I don't know what to make of it, it's like a not-quite-as-sweet version of sprite. My wife says it smells and tastes like a shandy (beer and sprite). Mouthfeel is watery and very flat. Overall, it's drinkable, in the same way a flat sprite is. I was expecting beer though.

This Radler is more than a beer and lemonade mix. Unlike the traditional Radler originating from Germany this beer seems to have the lemon, lime and sugar added during the brewing process bumping up the alcohol content to that of a full strength pilsner. Usually a Radler ordered in a pub in Germany consists of 50/50 Pilsner and lemonade, and was originally popular with cyclists who wanted a refreshing beer with half the alchohol. Although not readily available on tap most major brewery's in Germany bottle the beer mix drink.
I enjoy the Monteith's version and would buy it again. The lemon and lime seem to bend in with the beer very well and the sweetness is not too over powering. A subtle beer hop note similar to that if a pilsner is regcognisable. The 5% alcohol volume can be draw back if your not after a full strength beer as a Radler would usually be considered.
All in all, this is an extremely satisfying beverage on a hot day.

Bottle: standard 330mL brown bottle with a simple but stylish label.

Appearance: a crisp, clean yellow colour with spritzy carbonation. A small frothing head dissipates quickly. Looks like a decent cider.

Aroma: quite a bit of citrus on the nose - lemon and lime predominantly. Not all that much more, but it smells plenty refreshing.

Taste: a very refreshing lemon-and-lime with some very light malts behind. This would only suit a hot day, particularly after some yard work or whatever.

Aftertaste: the taste drops away pretty quickly, a slight astringency lingers.

Mouth feel: lighter in body with aa high carbonation. Very refreshing.

Overall: a nice, refreshing beer after a jog or on a very hot day. Not terribly sessional though - one or two in a session max. The price is reasonable though, at AU$55 a case (2014).

On tap at the brewery in Greymouth, NZ in Dec. 2013.

A very citrusy radler with lively carbonation and lime in addtion to the usual lemon. Crisp and refreshing but so much citrus the lager base is masked. More like a "wine cooler" than a beer.

Overall: a refreshing and thirst quenching beverage with little resemblance to a lager beer.

I visited the Monteith's brewery while visiting Greymouth, NZ, overall fun tour and they let us pour what ever we wanted for 40 minutes, after giving us a taste of their whole range.

I don't generally like this style, but this one honestly tasted like gatorade from the powder, and the I would drink this after a race or heavy excersice but it just wasn't my cup of tea. The lemon lime seemed artificial, which didn't sit well with me.
