The beer is stillbeing brewed but with new ABV 4.0%.
Pours clear golden with decent dense white head. Good retention. Gentle grainy aroma with elusive hop tones. The taste is plain sweet malty with moderate hop bitterness. Good specimen of "Zhigulyovskoye" tribe.

BAs will notice that there are an awful lot of Russian beers named "Zhigulovskoye." Well, this is the one that started it all. Why? The copies are generally pretty bad, and the original just ain't a heck of a lot better.
Served at the brewery's own pub (not likely to find a better Zhigulovskoye anywhere), it comes out clear yellow gold under a big three-finger white head that enjoys a pretty firm consistency. The head retention and lacing are excellent. The nose is very mild, with just a touch of grain, even after the beer warmed. The mouth is light and fairly prickly. The taste is clean malt, with just a slight hoppy bite. Perhaps malt monsters should give this a try, but this hophead found it average at best.
