Shared half-litre bottle (lot 638) at a Pre Brugge Beer Festival bottle swap on 31st Jan 2014.
The name translates to 'No more needed': well this was only the third bottle I'd tried, so although I could have happily got bladdered on a few bottles of this I was duty bound to drink plenty more before the evening was out.
Anyway, back to this lovely beer.
Poured a dark, deep brown with a red hue when held up to a strong light source, the head a lightly tanned foam.
The aromas were of over roasted malts, dark fruits from the hedgerow with a trace of wood smoke.
The taste was just as interesting as the smell, malty lead with those fruits and smoking trees giving a good base for other flavours to enhance. I found a little chocolate and vanilla within the complex taste, some yeastiness also appeared before a semi-dry and mini-bitter hop finish rounded off each sip (it was too good to gulp).
Full bodied, the alcohol almost completely hidden by the blend of flavours: a very good beer indeed.
