Thanks to bu11zeye for sharing this bottle.

The beer pours a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma is very nice. I get a lot of dark fruit - mainly cherries - as well as a lot of caramel and toffee malt. The flavor is toffee and caramel malt, which are complimented by some lightly tart cherries and some dry cocoa. A very nice mix that goes very well. The beer is very dry and is slightly sour. Easy to drink. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

A 330ml bottle with a BB of Aug 2012. Acquired ages ago from a Belgian webshop and stored in my garage. Not quite sure what to expect from the morpheus yeast.

Poured into a Delirium chalice. A murky, opaque reddish-brown colour with considerable carbonation (visible at the side of the glass). Black unless held to the light. Produces a massive head of creamy light tan foam with great stability; this slowly reduces to a thick surface layer. Aroma of sweet, dark malt with hints of wood, brown sugar, caramelised grain, balsamic vinegar, red fruit and earthy yeast. A warming whiff of booze in the background.

Tastes of sweetish roasted malt with a yeasty, acidic character. Notes of wood, dry yeast, brown sugar, vinegar, caramel and hints of fruit. Quite sour with a dry finish. Mouthfeel is tart and dry, with tingly carbonation and a thin, insubstantial body. Pretty astringent - dries the palate. Aftertaste of woody vinegar notes and earthy yeast.

Hmmmm - not the best effort and hard to place. The aroma suggests old wood-aged beer with a pleasant acidity, but the flavour is an indistinct mess. I was hoping for a more clearly defined character; perhaps more wood and less yeast. The body also leaves you wanting more. Interesting and quite complex, but not the best drinking experience. Pick one up if you come across it but no need to seek it out.

On-tap at the Brick Store.

Pours a hazy dark brown color with a tan head that leaves decent lacing.

Smells of heavy roasted malts with hints of tart green apples and berries. Also present are mild amounts of char.

Tastes similar to how it smells, though the roastiness is not as heavy. Smooth roasted malts up front are joined quickly by moderate amounts of unsweetened chocolate. Midway through tart medium fruits come into play before fading out into a mildly tart ending. Mouthfeel is good, with smooth carbonation.

Overall I wasn’t a big fan of this beer, though it has one of the larger differences between aroma and flavor I’ve come across in a while. The tartness is hardly noticeable in the aroma but is huge in the flavor. An interesting beer that isn’t worth seeking but is worth a try if you come across it.

330ml bottle courtesy of bluebetty. Big thanks!

Nice deep brown colour with a touch of red when held to the light. Light head of foam pours at about a centimetre, before falling to film after a little while.

Little bit of funk on the nose but that is about it.

The flavour profile is very diminished, all bar a slight tart sour flavour late is all that i could ascertain.

The body is very thin, this was the most noticeable aspect of this brew.

Overall a very ordinary, not a lot happening flavour or aroma wise and nothing much else there to improve it.

Bottle: Poured a deep cloudy brown color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and even some lacing. Aroma of brown sugar malt with medium lactic acid notes. Taste is also a mix between some tart and light acid notes with a solid malt backbone with notes of brown sugar. Body is more full then I was expecting with a very solid malt backbone and caramelized notes with good carbonation. Well done and more complex then a straightforward Flanders red or oud bruin.

330ml bottle served in a FLUTE (Timmermans). Enjoyed on Mar´11
Pours deep black with dark brown on sides & ruby reflects to the light. Crown is dense & brief so lacing does. Floral & citric aromas. Intense sourness on palate. Light body. Thankfully the aftertaste is sweety fruit.Drinkable if comes along with food. Balanced flavors & aromas associated with wood aged Oud Bruins are missed.

A very dark brown beer with an off-white head. For sure this beer is wild, it gushes out of the bottle.

The smell is a lactic and slightly roasted. It reminds of bbq sauce with a smokey and boozy character. There is also some wood notes and it appears to have some vinagar flavors.

The taste is build up around the yeast, there is nice, complex and mild lactic acid taste that plays together well with the light dark malt taste. The malts add a nice caramellic and molasses taste, without giving a malt bitterness. The yeast appears to be more complex than just yeast. It is lactic and adds vineous tastes. The mouthfeel is light and thin, but the alcohol and tart flavors makes the beer a full-bodied beer, instead of empty.

Purchased at Bier Temple in Brussels and it survived the trip home. Pours dark mahagony with plenty of carbonation. Taste is bright and tart with some residual sweetness in the aftertaste. Definitely fuller bodied than other oud bruins I've had. In short, very delicious.

The pour is a murky brown color with an off-white head. Grass, leather, and vinegar to open things up. A bit of sweet dark fruits such as raisins and plums. A hint of metal is present on the nose as well. The flavor is fairly acetic with balsamic vinegar aromas. Lots of leather, grass, and dark fruit. A touch of sweetness gives it a little balance. High carbonation adds to drying feeling on the finish.

33cl bottle poured into Westy 12 (small) chalice

A: Hazy maroon with brown tint. Single (tan) fingernail head on medium pour.

S: Smells of a classic Flanders red ale - touch of vinegar, muted tartness, and unripe red fruit. Hints of red wine character and sourness. Average.

T: Sadly, just plain miserable. Definitely one of the worst beer I have ever tasted. I'm not sure if my bottle was infected or what, but something about the taste just seemed off. Cardboard-esque, old red wine vinegar, moldy cherries, and flat sweetness. Very unpleasant and I couldn't even stomach to finish this.

M: Light/medium bodied with appropriate carbonation.

O: An all-around terrible beer. Really a bummer because I was expecting this to be better. Can't win them all though.

On tap at the Bavarian Lodge in Lisle, IL, on 4/8/11.

Aroma:Barnyard funk and copper.

Appearance:Almost totally opaque, with low head.

Taste:Mild fruity sour notes like a slightly sour berry. Then copper in the mid to aftertaste. As this beer warms up, I enjoy it more as there is more sourness, and mineral copper taste decreases.

Mouthfeel:Light body with low carbonation.

Overall:It's got some complex flavors, but the copper flavors were really not to my taste. I'm hoping that this was just a tap line problem.
