500 mL bottle. crown indicates "WWE APR 2019 Lot: 687". I think. I assume I could have set this down a while...

opens as a bit of a gusher. I can see the yeast coming from this bottle, which is a bit disappointing as they could of had a better grasp of their conditioning levels. ah, the show shall go on though!

A: pours very, very hazy. a brownish, orange hue. the small glass I am using lets me try again in about 20 minutes. same result. also I should note that this bottle has been vertically standing in my fridge for the last several weeks. minimal head and lacing.

S: sulfur is the first aroma I get and a lot of it. after getting past the sulfur, which takes some concentration, a nice aroma of barny funk and light acidity greats.

T: sulfur follows to the drink, but then the acidity starts to kick in with a little more balls. barny yes, but not too heavy on it. more puckering acidic flavor balanced by some woody oak notes. finish dries up, but not bone dry as I detect a minor residual sweetness. There is some Cowtail (the candy)-like flavors in the middle that I cannot quite put my finger on. interesting to say the least.

M: pretty vibrant carb on a medium bodied brew.

D: needs some cleaning up in the packaging and sulfur component, which was WAYYY to high for a brew like this IMO. I sampled this in the store I purchased it at and liked it a lot more then, however I also didn't get this sulfur nonsense then. also also, the bottle the sir opened did not spew on my table.

stunning, perhaps the best i have had from these guys, and i have loved all of their beer. this one is a lot of fun, sour sour blonde, lacto heavy, highly acidic, tannic, intense. the color is a cloudy pale tinted orange yellow, and a rising white head recedes to patchy spotty lacy as it drinks and sits. the nose is sharply, even caustically acidic, it almost doesnt smell like a beverage in that way, with the mature lacto having taken over almost entirely. the grain seems wheat and barley based, has some body, but is rather obscured in the flavor. the red wine barrels do a lot here, they add tannic tang to the already very sour beer, and there is a rich oaky red wine flavor buried in all the sourness. this is wild ale for the connoisseur, not for the beginner, its intensity and complexity both make it rather unapproachable for the unaccustomed. i love all its carbonation, and the acidity without the vinegar taste is a mark of brilliance for me. the oak profile is nice, obviously a quality wine was in this barrel prior to the brew. sediment gets heavy as the bottle pours down, but the flavor keeps evolving. not sure how i passed this up so long, but i am real glad it finally got to happen, what an impressive take on wild ale. all the nuance of good gueuze, with the wine barrel twist. world class.

Bottle shared at bu11zeye's 10,000th tasting.

The beer pours an orange-yellow color with a white head. The aroma has a light amount of tartness, as well as some leather, Belgian yeast and lemon notes. The flavor is similar. I get a lot of tart lemons, as well as some green apples and cherries. There is also a nice amount of yeast and some lighter, biscuit malt thrown in. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

16.9oz bottle poured into a snifter.

A: Pours a hazy orangish copper with just about no head on top. Only a slight ring around the edges of the glass. Doesnt seem to have much visible carbonation.

S: Right off the bat you get a nice sour aroma with lactic like qualities. The oak seems to add a mellowness to the aroma. Lambic like fruitiness.

T: Real balanced yet highly sour brew. The Morpheus yeast does add a solid dose of lactic acid reminiscent of a lambic. The oak and wine characteristics add depth to the brew with a fruity vanilla blend. Red wine flavors linger in the aftertaste. Adding in the yeast toward the end yields a much more earthy flavor.

M: Medium body with just about zero carbonation. This is one dry brew with the sour aspect puckering you up as well.

Overall this is a solid sour that really shows what yeast can do for a beer. Something any sour fan needs to try.

500 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Pours a deep orange, amber body. Strangely and disturbingly viscous. Floating bits float about in it.

Smell - Apple-y fruitiness. Caramel malt. Mild acidity. Some oak.

Taste - Much more sour, but still apple flavored. Sour green apple flavor. Oak. Caramel malt.

Mouthfeel - Slick, mucousy, very viscous. Truly odd and unpleasant.

Overall - Objectively, the flavor isn't that bad, but I have difficulty separating the flavor from the incredibly bad texture.

This has a minerallic/vinous/shock-tarts flavor profile that's reminiscent of a lot of Crooked Stave beers, just a little watered down. If the flavor profile is a little watered down, the mouthfeel is a lot watered down - almost flat and just not rounding out the experience like you would hope.

Finishes really dry and oaky. Like maybe overly oaky.

The aroma is the standout here - bright, lemony and funky. But the rest of the beer doesn't fall into place very well.
