Being one that mindlessly cellars any beer over 8% alcohol, tonight I pulled a bomber out of the basement and noticed it read "best by 6/17/15." It poured a gloppy mess, with no head, but fizzed and bubbled like one of those "mudpot" acidic hot springs I went to in Yellowstone as a kid. While it had some of the malty, smooth flavor typical of aged beers, I can't say it tasted good. Regardless, I powered through all 22 ounces while watching Jordon Peel's horror film, Us, and am proud to say that I am most likely the last human on Earth to ever have "enjoyed" this couture collaboration creation.

Pours clear, reddish-brown in color with 1/4 inch head. Taste is prune, banana, dark pumpernickel bread, toasted malt, and alcohol heat. Sweet, malty, medium-heavy bodied, and slick. I prefer other weizenbocks, but this one is tasty and worth a try.

The manager at our favorite beer store (Blue Max in Burnsville, MN) said, "Have this as your last beer, not your first." That's good advice. The wife says it's a summer version of an imperial stout. A dark amber pour with a light persistent head. Aromas of molasses and spice come out and the taste is rich and complex with plenty of malt and definite hit on the ABV. A slight sweetness stays with you for a long time. Nothing we'd had from Deschutes comes close. Probably one of those that are like-or-not-like.

22oz. Bomber
Best By: 06/17/15

Didn't notice the best buy date until after I purchased it on 9/1/2015.

L: Nice color. Not much of a head.
T: Very sweet, with raison, prune, banana, and caramel flavors and very malty.
