12oz bottle purchased from Whole Foods in SoMa, San Francisco.

Pours a pleasant faintly hazed golden orange, with a frothed, but slightly filmy head of white. Colour is gorgeous though, and there's a surprisingly pleasant weight to the body, leaving fine carbonation when tilted. Overall, it's a pretty nice-looking beer.

Nose is biting with hops, with a very fresh, green character coming through strongly. There's a slightly rubbery tone to it as well: perhaps more of an intensity that accentuates the hop characters. Under this are characters of orange, peach and pepper, but very little sweetness or malt. I'm interested to see how it tastes.

As it happens, the taste is really quite light, but it's also quite pleasant. The hops are also pared back, leaving some fresh vegetative and fruity tones to the palate, but providing no real bitterness. There's a slight mild acid character that forms towards the back of the palate, while the peach and orange characters evanesce on the front. There's also a faint yeasty tone which is the only drawback, but after the first couple of sips, its influence is negligible. Overall, it's very pleasant.

Feel is light, but clear and clean, with a pleasant smoothness.

Overall, this is a very drinkable beer. I could certainly see myself drinking this as part of a very enjoyable session. Were it available in Australia, it would make a pretty damn impeccable beach BBQ beer. Alas.

Appearance: Pale orange copper with a decent head and plenty of lacing. Noticeable carbonation.

Smell: Orange, bready malts.

Taste: Orange, pine, grapefruit, caramel.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, crisp, with a mild hop bitterness in the finish.

The Verdict: Good beer. Well balanced, and it has a nice orange zest without beating you over the head with bitterness. Another winner from Deschutes.

The beer poured nicely with good carbonation. It was clear, although I swear the bottle said it was bottle conditioned. The smell was mild, which I was expecting with it geared towards a summer session beer. The taste was pleasantly mild, following the smell. I could taste slight hints of citrus, but again it was quite mild. I thought it would be a good introduction beer for newbies, but my friend was not too fond of it. Overall it's a good beer for summer barbecue sessions

look: 4.5 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 4 | feel: 4 | overall: 4

Appearance:
Incredibly clear orange body, holds a decent white head with respectable retention and a surprising amount of lacing. Gobs of carbonation.

Aroma:
Very light aroma, but does house a nice floral hop presence backed by a bit of wheat and hay. Citrus is splashed throughout. Pleasant sweetness.

Taste:
Great hoppiness. Light pine laced with sweet floral hops usher in a simple, wheat malt base. Great balance, it not a bit on the bitter side. Nice citrusy finish with a hint of pepper.

Mouthfeel:
Light and crisp. Smooth and easy to drink with a clean finish. Refreshing!

Overall:
A superb example of what a summer beer should be. Tasty, crisp and light, this is definitely the summer beer to beat!
