Appearance: (on hard pour) a pretty thick stand of off-white bubbly head which slowly compacts, copper color, slight haze
Aroma: caramelly, slightly grapefruity hop, some unripe pear esters
Flavor: initial caramel-coated fruit (apple? plum?) sweetness, a round gentle flavor, mellow cascade flavor comes in, gradually followed by a subdued bitterness, some graininess along with an even malt backbone
Mouthfeel: medium-light body, gentle carbonation, smooth, easy-drinking, no astringency
Overall Impression: On par with their Black Butte Porter, this is one of my favorites that I've tried. Delicious. No complaints at all about this one! In fact, I really like this beer a whole hell of a lot!

Disappointed with this offering. Checked the freshness date, and was OK (still 2 months to go), but this beer didn't have any pizazz, almost like to was sitting around too long. Don't want to low-rate it, because I am a fan of the Black Butte Porter from Deschutes, but this was lacking.

on tap at Doubletree Hilton Hotel, Portland
Dark amber with white film.
Dark toast, orange rind, and pine on the nose.
Caramel and peach sweetness with lots of candy, then resin and tangelo hops end.
Mango finish and dry linger.
Medium, chewy, round.
Candy sweet - very entry level. No IBU bite, and cloys a bit. Slight sandpaper bitterness as it warms, but just not what I’m looking for in an APA.
