12 oz bottle, BB dated Oct. 2014, purchased and consumed near Bend, Oregon.

Poured with a semi-durable, frothy head over a deep amber body; excellent clarity; OK retention; Very good lacing.

Aroma: fruity with hints of spicy hops.

Flavor: Fruity/juicy hops with balancing caramel and medium malts. Herbal/grapefruit aftertaste is mildly bitter.

Feel: medium body and carbonation.

O: a fruity an slightly mild APA.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle (from a mixed six pack) into my tulip glass. No date on bottle. Is it normally on the six pack container? Anyways, 1 finger of a pure white head (no retention, though), over a nice reddish copper body. Not much aroma on the nose, however a slight citrus hit on the end. Tasted some citrus, however, and also some of that nice piney astringency. Very crisp taste, and nice balance of bitter Consistent light carbonation and an overall light bodied brew. Good mouthfeel (for an APA style). Nice expected balance from Deschutes... would have liked a bottle date (if only to know if this was super fresh, or if I needed to do some more hunting. Overall a good choice for a lighter pale ale style (as I am a huge fan of big IPAs).

The absolute, unrelenting eradication of my back inventory continues. I just want to return to The CANQuest (TM), but the bottles glare at me for ignoring them. This one came from The Friendly Greek's Bottle Shop.

From the bottle: "If you could only listen to one album forever, what would it be?"; "At least there's Mirror Pond when it comes to Pale Ales."; "Crafted for Explorers Everywhere Since 1988"; "

I was anxious to get started, so I got a nice, heavy-handed pour going. The by-now predictable outcome was a pseudo-cascade, followed by the production of three fingers of dense, rocky, tawny head with great retention. Color was a deep-amber (SRM = > 5, < 7) with NE-quality clarity. Nose smelled primarily of grapefruit, but underlain by a light mintiness. Mouthfeel was medium, kind of soft on the tongue. The taste was mellow, kind of tea-like, with a light citrusy tartness. Finish was likewise mellow and unobtrusive. If I could only have one APA forever, it would NOT be this one.
