On tap served in a pint glass

A - Clear pumpkin orange with one finger white head and minimal lacing.

S - Bright citrus grapefruit smell from heavy Cascade hops

T - Follows the smell with Cascade's grapefruit citrus and toasted malts making up the backbone. Nothing extremely standout on the palate, pretty well balanced. The flavor is just a tad underwhelming and leaves a little more to be desired. Not very bitter.

M - Medium body, medium carbonation.

O - I wanted a little more hops in the Pale Ale, but overall a pretty good beer.

Rich golden honey color; good head formation though it does settle out

Lovely aroma of floral and citrus hops

Medium-light body and good carbonation

Taste is solid for style. Good hop character, but nothing over the top (40 IBUs). Malts are coming through with clean cracker and biscuit flavor. Homebrew recipe on website calls for all Cascade hops, so that explains the aroma I got. The finish has a good bitterness that’s a bit leafy in flavor.

Really easy drinking and enjoyable. Much less assertive than their IPA, clearly distinguishing itself. A beer that could go well with a lot of dishes and be enjoyed in multiples in a sitting. Nice job, Deschutes!
