A: Pours a brilliant, clear golden amber with a bubbly, lingering white head.

S: Aromas of caramel, toffee, biscuits, crackers, herbs, grass, plums, apricot, nectarine, white peach and mild citrus are present on the nose.

T: Notes of biscuits, crackers, caramel, minerals, toffee, nougat, sweet cream, plums, apricots, honey, white peach, nectarine, lemon zest, lime, orange, grass, and herbs wash across the palate. The finish is balanced with biscuit and cracker notes underscored by flavors of honey, apricot, nectarine, and lemon zest.

M: On the lighter side of medium, milky, smooth, and silky. Carbonation is delicately prickly.

O: An amazing APA, this is most likely one of the best examples of the style I have ever had the pleasure of drinking. This ale displays a gorgeous texture and flavor profile. The fact that I could drink this all day reminds me of why this beer is considered a classic. For fans of the style, I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Poured from a bottle into a Bell's tulip. Nice clear, bright, orange-amber color with two fingers of fluffy off-white head. Good retention. Nice lacing. The nose is hop-forward with citrusy notes of lemon and grapefruit, along with fresh linen (?!).

Light-medium body with a nice, round flavor. Very clean-tasting. Almost lager-like. Pleasant, buiscuity maltness up front balanced with a fruity, hoppy character. Not bitter at all (I expected more hoppiness). I get flavors of toast, honey, tea, and lemon. Really refreshing and easy to drink. Light flavor doesn't linger too long.

If this beer came out today (instead of years ago), I wonder just how well it would be accepted. I definitely like it, but I think the crowds who gravitate towards, big, bruising, citrusy beers would shun this one and consider it a bit dated. I would recommend this one to those new to craft beers. If you've been drinking craft for a while and are just getting around to this one, you may be a little disappointed. It's a good beer, but there are many Pale Ales out there today that surpass this one. I wouldn't seek it out, but I'd grab it if you happen to come across it and haven't tried it yet.
