Best by 4/18/14. 12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a golden orange with nice clarity; fluffy white head that slowly fades leaving great lacing and retention. The aromas are pretty faint. Lots of bread, malts, and grains. Lots of caramel. Not much of a fruity hop presence. The flavors aren't exactly exciting, but they're clean and refreshing. Tons of caramel. Very bready. Lots of grainy and earthy characteristics going on. The hop flavor and hop bitterness feels non-existent. Mouthfeel is light with moderate carbonation. It's obviously and easy drinking beer.

This isn't really an exciting pale ale. It personally reminds me more of an Irish red ale. This is ultimately boring and forgettable. This is my first experience with Deschutes so I guess this isn't the best first impression, but it's all good because there are more goodies from them for me to try out.

Pours a typical coppery amber that you have a little trouble seeing through. Little to no head without noticeable effervescence. There is no strongly detectable aroma. Taste is lightly bitter all the way through with a light malt and hop character. The beer has a great mouthfeel that will outperform other mediocre pale ales on tap at the local bar, but overall is a forgettable beer. The nice thing is that they sell this bar on tap many many places in the west coast and when presented with your typical sportsbar lineup, ie bud light, blue moon, sierra nevada, I will usually be happy with a Mirror Pond.

Best by date on bottle was only 2-3 months away so I will consider re-reviewing at a later date with a fresher sample.

A-Slightly hazy with a light amber color with an off white head that held on and leave a light lacing
S-has a malt and hop balance with a citrus background
T-hops am\nd hop balance in the beginning that quickly goes to a pine hops aftertaste with a grapefruit taste that leaves with a dry crisp finish
M-medium body with good carbonation
O-this was a beer with a twist. The smell makes you believe it is a pale ale at the first sip, but the after that I would have thought this was an IPA

Pour is beautiful slight orange hue. Small white head, very solid lacing.
Low aroma. Toasted malts and a hint of caramel and bread. Earthy and piney hops.

Taste begins watery, transitioning into a mellow malty mash up. Sweet caramel, toasted wheat bread, a hint of dark dried berry. Hops come in the second half, slightly citrusy, mostly earthy. The hops are mellow and the beer finishes earthy and dragging with the smallest hop bitterness.

Incredibly drinkable, light in body with a lingering hop bitterness.

A very good pale ale. Great balance, not overly aggressive or assertive. Excellent
