A: A very dark-brown beer with good clarity. The tan head is made of long lasting creamy bubbles.

S: Medium-strong roast aromas with a medium bready malt character. supporting aromas of coffee, dark dried fruit and chocolate.

T: A soft hit of flavors that starts of roasted and chocolaty with a moderatly-low toffee sweetness that develops into an off-dry, roasty finish developing. There is a medium-low hops bitterness and a low earth hops flavor. The balance is about even with maybe a bit more bitterness from the combination of roast and hops bitterness. Some dark dried fruit.

M: A very creamy, medium bodied beer with a medium-strong level of carbonation. There is a very light roast astringency which is fine for the style.

O: A roasty, complex beer with an excellent balance of flavors. The cream soft mouthfeel is a stand out amazing quality of this beer.

Bought from Little's Liquor and Wine in Denver, CO

A&S: Transparent but very dark brown colored beer. Creamy light brown head with good retention and moderate amount of speckled lacing. Pronounced and powerful aroma containing mostly roasty elements, but also hints of chocolate and vanilla.

T&M: Pretty simplistic in taste, almost entirely roasty. No real sense of hops or chocolate elements. High carbonation for any style, very high carbonation for a porter. Medium to low bodied and again, low bodied for a porter. Crisp and stinging, to at all smooth and silky. It is very drinkable, but the mouthfeel element to this beer doesn't make it very enjoyable.

Overall: After seeing how high this beer was rated I was shocked. Elements of this beer were great, but in my mind it has a ton of flaws for any porter side beer, let alone one that is rated this high. Founder's porter still is my favorite easy to find porter and I would recommend anyone to check it out way before this one.

A- Dark brown with a hint of red, nice color and solid head retention.
S: Roast, maybe a hint of chocolate
T/M Taste matches up with the nose. Roast, but nothing overbearing. Faint hints of chocolate. Caramel presence. Thin though. Very thin.
Overall: Based on look, smell, and taste, this is a porter to be reckoned with. I see while it retains some of its OG status. However, for my particular tastes, it is not even in the same class as Founders Porter, Smuttynose Robust Porter, and the new modern class.
On the brightside, I could see this being more of a summer beer than other porters. While thin, it is also not very filling.
