FINALLY! I've been trying to get my hands on this beer for a long time. Distro is pretty bad in my area for Deschutes beers.
Pours into my Stone IRS snifter with incredible beige foam and massive head. Body is dark red with burnt orange edges coupled with massive amounts of lacing, allowing me to feast with my eyes.
Aroma is quite nice, slightly delicate. Beautiful roasted caramel and bread overtones, with some very dark orange citrus high notes. It doesn't quite pack the aromatic punch that I was looking for, but it certainly gets the job done in a no nonsense fashion.
The nose was just a road map for the taste. Begins relatively smooth with toasty caramel and light chocolate being its center, then moves onward mid palate with a nice bready body that gives way to a good hoppines that follows all the way to the finish with just the slightest touch of astringency.
Mouthfeel was a few notches above medium. Carbonation was just right. Prickly, but just enough to lift the flavors.
This is huge drinkable and enjoyable winter seasonal that has eluded me for a long time, but was worth while after scoring a case! Cheers!

Pours a deep amber/ruby color with a thin, tan (almost yellowish) head. Minimal lacing. No noticeable carbonation.
A very sweet with a bit of spice with a tinge of cola. Dark fruit notes, bitter cherries and fig spring to mind. Light brown sugar and molasses and a hint of hazelnut.
Beautifully balanced between bitter and sweet. A rush of slightly tart, dark fruit up front with dates and cherries. Sweetness brought to you by molasses with a bit of nice spicing that I can't seem to put my finger on. Tasty, this one is.
Smooth and super easy to drink. Medium bodied. Fizzy. Sweet finish.
Another fantastic offering from Deschutes. Easy to drink and loaded with character. Definitely worth picking up!
