Cocoa, dried fruit, and toffee notes. A robust ale with a warming spice.

Medium brown. Thin tan head. Unremarkable aroma. Taste is also mostly unremarkable with plenty of hop bitterness and a small amount of malts. Thin. Ok

This is a damn good beer and I’m not such a huge Winter Warmer fan.
Pours a nice 2 finger head and leaves lacing down the glass. Scents of apricot, plum, cherries, nutmeg, coffee, and chocolate come through.
It is very smooth with a slight hoppy twinge on the back wash. Tastes more like a slightly spiced porter than a winter warmer. You can taste all the aforementioned flavors, especially some light chocolate but it is not sweet.
It’s deceptively strong and medium bodied. I’ll have to get this again.

So far this beer is pretty tasty and easy to drink. I'm drinking from the bottle but to cut to the chase I won't be reviewing the look and feel. I know the buzz feels good and the taste is more than tolerable considering the fairly high 6.7% ABV. I gave this beer a 4.5 star rating.

12 oz bottle with a 28 September 2023 bottling date stamped on the label.

Appearance. This pours with a clear red-brown body and a beige head of modest height but high retention.

This is a relatively nearby spiced winter warmer that will appeal to fans of Anchor Brewing Christmas Ales (CA) but will strike some as over spiced. Working from memory, I'd say that compared to the average Anchor CA, this winter warmer is about as heavily spiced and about equally hoppy (i.e., hops are prominent) , but has a bit more dark grain flavor. Even though it started at a temperature higher than my refrigerator it continually improved with warming, seeming less spicy and even more malty. The spicing is more prominent in the aroma than in the flavor, and probably contributed to the sense of high ABV in the aroma.

Plums with sweet molasses and dark chocolate. Very complex with a piney bitterness that almost reminds me of a black IPA which is one of my favorite styles. My favorite winter Warmer!

From a 12oz bottle dated "Packaged on:" 10/17/23 into a pint glass.

Pours a very dark translucent copper color with about two fingers of tan head. Decent retention and lacing.

First aromas to hit are coffee and cocoa followed up by some spices.

Bitter coffee and cocoa on the taste but also some spiciness, guessing cinnamon.

Medium bodied mouthfeel. Low carbonation. Bitter and spicy aftertaste.

This is something a little different and it's good!

Dark red pour. Can taste the spices and a slightly bitter coffee like aftertaste. Enjoyed it.

Poured at 35-36 degrees into a standard pint glass
Look: Really dark reddish brown. Substantial head.
Smell: Lots of spice, hints of chocolate and hops.
Taste: Very powerful spice flavoring. Some may find that off putting but I love those fucking spice flavors. Hints of toffee. Chocolate aftertaste which is almost identical to that of their Black Butte Porter.
Feel: Light-medium carbonation. The toffee is very light thankfully, and does not create a chalky in-mouth feel as Sam Adams Old Fezziwig did this year.
Overall: This is a delicious beer that I would strongly recommend. However, I dislike the similarity of the chocolate to that in Black Butte.

Dark reddish brown with a modest but lasting tan head and even bits of decent lacing.
The aroma is figs, raisins, dark chocolate, anise. The taste is caramel malt, dark chocolate, brown sugar, figs, raisins, hints of cloves, white pepper and anise. The finish is dry with some lingering pine resin.
The body is medium, good smooth carbonation, this is a nice after dinner sipper or just for enjoyment on a cool fall/winter day.
Altogether, this is a tasty and enjoyable winter warmer, with just enough alcohol to be noticed.

When the ale is ALE; like Jubelale, there’s no question about flavor. Like: what did I drink?
That’s STOUT for sure. The head is lite tasting, but the rest makes up for what makes a spoon stand up. There could be an extend season. Next time I’m going to hoard a case when I buy.

Dark reddish brown, medium tan head.
Smells like baking bread, fruit cake, toffee, molasses.
Tastes overwhelming bitterness completely wipes out any other flavors. Quite a disappointment, but it doesn’t surprise me coming from a company that is almost exclusively IPA oriented.
