12oz bottle from a sixer – standard pint glass
*Notes from 11/21/12
A: Pour is an almond brown with a nice garnet red hue when held to the light. Mostly opaque with some clearing towards the edge. Thick persistent head of taupe colored shave cream. Impressive cascading sheets of lace.
S: Smells of gooey caramel and rich toffee with a considerable infusion of orange peel. There are some earthy spiced grains and a soft chocolate note paired with dried fruits/berries. Very nice and inviting.
T: Tastes of caramelized figs, warm bread, toffee, cardamom and candied citrus peel. Subtle influence of milk chocolate melds with plums, dates, figs, and raisins. This is respectfully hopped with a higher level of resinous bitters. Lingering with some dry peppery spices and organic herbs. Alcohol adds a soft warmth. Really quite a wonderful winter brew.
M: Moderate in body with a somewhat creamy consistency. Feel is a little wet and watery with a dry resinous pucker towards the end of the drink. Lingering viscid hop oils.
D: Really warms my cockles. Everything I look for in a Winter Warmer and extra hoppy to boot. Full of toffee, bread, citrus, and spice flavors but not heavily constructed. Maintains that light approachable drinking quality.
Very commendable to the style.

Great beer! One of the most balanced beers I have ever had.
aroma: Chocolate and big malt with slight wine, hops and brown sugar.
taste: Beautifully balanced. Chocolate, roasted malt, pine, orange, grapefruit - nothing too strong or standing out but all blending in to make a brilliant and tasty beer. Also, a nice and smooth mouthfeel.
