A- Dark cherry red body, very appealing. Very little froth however, and no effervescence at all. Seems unfinished almost, too young.
S- Sweet with various spices intertwined, mostly nutmeg and allspice I'm picking up. Very light hop aroma.
T- Cloyingly sweet, the spices pick up a little more toward the finish and theres faint clove as well. Fairly uninteresting for me, especially considering the style this is supposed to fall under.
M- Disappointing. Theres an alcoholic burn sensation that begins in the mouth, perhaps more due to the spices since there are much higher ABV beers that hide their alcoholic warmth. However, just when that burn should be warming down the throat and into the belly, it stops and I'm left with a funky dry afterfeel on my palate. Very dulling on the tongue as well.
O- I'm a Deschutes disciple, but this one ought to be dismissed. I would prefer not to have another, too bad there are five more stashed in my cooler. I'll try and pair them with some holiday tamales and see if that heat balances these out somewhat...

On tap at the Local Taphouse.
Pours a red colour, bit of haze. Head is off-white, webbed lace but sticks to the glass. Looks nice.
Smells like banana esters, with some dry sweet spice, nutmeg and vanilla. Touch of raisin. Could have more richness and more robustness, but decent.
Taste is chocolatey. Dry cocoa with some toffee, sultanas and some dried orange peel. Not much spice; more fruit and lots of chocolate. Not bad.
Full body, nicely textured. Slightly dry on the back.
Nice beer; have had better spiced Winter seasonals though, generally better because of more spice.
