A: Pours a dark brown/ruby with small head retention. Small bubbles of carbonation present with chunky bits of yeast.
S: Smells sweet, almost fruity, with spicy hops left on the nose. Reminds me of figs, plums, and cherries. Intriguing!!
T: Good, sweet malt is off-set by the hops and alcohol. I noticed another review disappointed by the lack of harmony among the flavors. I couldn't disagree more, respectfully. Each flavor is bold and pronounced yet the overall experience comes together beautifully. Personally, I think this is one of the better 'winter warmer' ale's I've had this 2006 season; better than Anchor Steam's Merry XMas/Happy New Year Ale!!
M: Great mouthfeel - the bold flavors are washed cleanly down by the bottle conditioning and the alcohol. The only thing left on the palette is the bitterness from the hops.
D: Great ale for the holiday season. I'm still partial this year to Sierra Nevada's Celebration Ale, but this is very merry indeed!!!

Pours a deep amber/ruby color with a thin, tan (almost yellowish) head. Minimal lacing. No noticeable carbonation.
A very sweet with a bit of spice with a tinge of cola. Dark fruit notes, bitter cherries and fig spring to mind. Light brown sugar and molasses and a hint of hazelnut.
Beautifully balanced between bitter and sweet. A rush of slightly tart, dark fruit up front with dates and cherries. Sweetness brought to you by molasses with a bit of nice spicing that I can't seem to put my finger on. Tasty, this one is.
Smooth and super easy to drink. Medium bodied. Fizzy. Sweet finish.
Another fantastic offering from Deschutes. Easy to drink and loaded with character. Definitely worth picking up!
