Served from a reasonably fresh 12 oz bottle dated "best by" 04/30/2012. Poured into a goblet.
A: Pours a very red-clay brown. TONS of carbonation coming off the bottom of the glass. Maybe a bit too much carbonation in the bottle. 3 inches of creamy head. Quickly disappearing head, with good lacing.
S: Hints of yams and licorice. A subtle spicy note, reminiscent of cloves.
T: A candied malt, with licorice and raisins. I would love a bit more hops or spices to balance the weight and sweetness of the malt profile, but considering it's a winter beer, I can appreciate this taste on a cooold night.
M: Feels a bit thick for a 6.7 percent beer.
O. Not my favorite style, but this does a decent job of representing a winter warmer. Lots of subtle dried fruit flavors to keep you guessing. I would personally like a bit more of a hop profile and maybe some cinnamon spice. I'd drink it again. C+

On tap at the Local Taphouse.
Pours a red colour, bit of haze. Head is off-white, webbed lace but sticks to the glass. Looks nice.
Smells like banana esters, with some dry sweet spice, nutmeg and vanilla. Touch of raisin. Could have more richness and more robustness, but decent.
Taste is chocolatey. Dry cocoa with some toffee, sultanas and some dried orange peel. Not much spice; more fruit and lots of chocolate. Not bad.
Full body, nicely textured. Slightly dry on the back.
Nice beer; have had better spiced Winter seasonals though, generally better because of more spice.
