2008 vintage pours a deep dark mahogany brown with a substantial finger and a half of thick head. Nice lace left behind as head disappears.
The nose is sweet, earthy and somewhat alcoholic, especially as is warms. Very malty with a good note of spiciness, mainly from the hops.
The flavor does not disappoint with a mildly sweet malty intro that's got some earthiness and an interesting spiciness as well. That all rounds out with some still hoppin, hop bitterness. Very pleasant flavor with great balance and a definite Winter Warmer feel and taste. Fits the style well.
Medium body with some fluff and fullness to the mouth, good carbonation and good punch from the alcohol make this warmer a pleasure too consume. The beer pic of this brew I took two years ago and am finally reviewing it...can't wait to taste this years offering...cheers!

On tap at the Local Taphouse.
Pours a red colour, bit of haze. Head is off-white, webbed lace but sticks to the glass. Looks nice.
Smells like banana esters, with some dry sweet spice, nutmeg and vanilla. Touch of raisin. Could have more richness and more robustness, but decent.
Taste is chocolatey. Dry cocoa with some toffee, sultanas and some dried orange peel. Not much spice; more fruit and lots of chocolate. Not bad.
Full body, nicely textured. Slightly dry on the back.
Nice beer; have had better spiced Winter seasonals though, generally better because of more spice.
