12oz brown bottle with a best by date of 01-27-11
Served in a tulip pint
Thanks to nickd717 for this in a trade
Color is a dark brown with tinges of red. Head is tan and frothy, about 4 fingers high, with very good retention and lacing.
Aromas are mainly of hops, with some dark bread smells from the malts as well.
Taste is pretty bitter. I get some of the roasted and caramel malt flavors, but they are overshadowed by the hop bitterness. Also pick up some spiciness and alcohol warming. Taste improves as the beer gets close to room temperature.
Feel is smooth with a dry finish. Carbonation is moderate and body is medium. The aftertaste is bitter.
A good winter warmer, although I'd prefer if it had more of a malt presence.

On tap at the Local Taphouse.
Pours a red colour, bit of haze. Head is off-white, webbed lace but sticks to the glass. Looks nice.
Smells like banana esters, with some dry sweet spice, nutmeg and vanilla. Touch of raisin. Could have more richness and more robustness, but decent.
Taste is chocolatey. Dry cocoa with some toffee, sultanas and some dried orange peel. Not much spice; more fruit and lots of chocolate. Not bad.
Full body, nicely textured. Slightly dry on the back.
Nice beer; have had better spiced Winter seasonals though, generally better because of more spice.
