Color is dark mahogany with a thin tan head and ample lacing. Smell is roasted malt and dark fruits with some citric hop presence and winter spices. Flavor is very nice, lots of malt, plums, and spices. FInish is refreshing and a touch bitter. Body is medium-full with moderate carbonation.

Overall, a great winter warmer with a lot of complexity and style. I really enjoy this beer. It's really even better on nitro if you can find it.

Jubelale, though indeed a dark and wintry looking beer, still has enough bright flash to act as a tree ornament; its roasted chestnut colour has a splash of cranberry shine and a fine powdering of snow atop. It's so appropriately designed you'd think the folks at Hallmark were behind it.

First and foremost, the vital ingredients for a good-quality Winter Warmer are: a) good-quality malt; b) a big proportion of it; c) holiday spices subtly blended into it. Jubelale smells like it fits the bill, with a crunchy caramel maltiness and hints of gingerbread, cinnamon, and chicory.

I'd even entertain a notion of milk chocolate, though it's not present on the palate where there's instead an abundance of fruity flavours focused primarily on raisin and dried apricots, as well as a pinch of butterscotch pudding and maybe a distant hint of peat. Plenty characterful but still a bit milder, this will certainly suit those who prefer the English style of doing things.

In true Christmas spirit, this ale prefers to make peace. I mean, not a creature is stirring - not a drop of the 6.7% alcohol nor a single one of the 60+ IBUs (nor even a mouse). It has 'ale' in the title but it drinks more akin to a lager: restrained nuttiness and a smooth, sessionable profile.

Like all Deschutes offerings, Jubelale is a more mainstream-minded one that still has more than what it takes to stand up on its own. Provenance may ensure this brewery's commonplace and mass-produced brands are still revered, but truth be told they haven't compromised an ounce and are as deserving of love now as ever before. Jubelale is a great holiday tipple!

The presents itself like the consummate Holiday beer with a rich maple color and a frothy thick head.

The nose is malty, with a fruit cake, spice, chocolate malt, molasses and and toffee scent.

Great flavor and easy yet thick drinkability. I get chocolate malt, dry maltiness, slight hop bitterness, raisin, fruit cake, anise, fennel, nutmeg and brown sugar.

Deschutes nailed this one!
