A - Pours a hazy orange amber

S - Terrific fresh hop aroma, lots of fresh grass and flowers, with some sweetness behind it.

T - Hops come through in the taste, lots of citrus and floral in the front which gives way to grassiness. Carmel malt backbone holds it all together nicely.

M - Light and oily, with a crystal clean finish from the fresh hops. I love the freshness from fresh hop ales, and this one represents the style beautifully.

D - Fantastic, easy to drink brew that I keep my eye out for during harvest season.

Cleaning up old notes. Enjoyed this on 11/23/13 out of a 12 oz brown bottle with a best by date of 12/23/13 marked on the label, so probably getting close to the end of it's ideal lifespan. Poured into an IPA-specific Speigelau glass.

Appearance - Pours a bright, glowing tangelo color with a slight haze in an otherwise transparent liquid with fleeting amber highlights. Atop the radiant body is a dense, two-finger head of creamsicle microbubbles, giving it a creamy appearance. Retention is excellent, and there is nice sticky lacing down the glass after the foam dissipates, leaving healthy rings.

Smell - Tropical fruits abound along with some citrus on the sweeter end of the spectrum--mango and light guava along with tangerine and blood orange. Perhaps some nectarine and white plum as well. Beneath the fruit explosion is a caramel malt backbone, which seems to enhance the sweet impression of the fruits bouquet coming through. All very aromatic, but I not really overpowering to the olfactory--would've loved to have this a bit fresher.

Taste - Many of the same profiles are present, with tangerine and mango taking the lead, but not as juicy as some wet hop ales I've had. There is a bit more grain background, like whole grain crackers or home-baked bread crust. There is also a nice bittering component as well to keep it from running away with fruit characteristics.

Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied and moderate carbonation, with a semi-sweet finish and a slight lingering bitterness.

Overall, a very good beer, but one I'll have to make a point to get my hands on a little sooner next season. I've really gotten heavy into wet hop ales and while this is a solid offering, I was left a bit wanting. That being said, the promise is that of a fantastic beer when in its prime.
