Best by 5/7/13. 12oz bottle poured into a tulip. Pours a hazy burnt orange with a small off-white head which fades and leaves nice retention and lacing. The aromas are full of orange peel. There's some caramel in the mix. Some bready malts. The flavors are pretty bitter. They definitely nailed that aspect. Lots of fresh pine needles that finishes with some pine resin. More orange along with hints of grapefruit. There's a bit more caramel. There's a solid malt backbone, but the hop bitterness still shines. Finishes dry. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied with active carbonation. It's a smooth beer, but is one that is nice to just chill and relax with.
This is a solid IPA. It's good and does what it's supposed to do. It might not be one that I'll dream about, but I can appreciate it.
