Ah, the beauty of living in Colorado, I once attempted to trade for this beer, last week I just drove 7 minutes to the liquor store and picked it up.
APPEARANCE: Slightly opaque and a medium copper color. The head was a nice solid inch thick with almost completely homogenous bubbles of a medium size. As the head slowly dissipated some of the bubbles combined to form larger ones and a few bigger bubbles dotted the top of the foam. The strong head also leads to some very nice lacing. In fact, this is some of the finest lacing I've ever seen. It is very thick and bubbly and covers about 60% of the backside of the glass all the way down to the bottom. It is gorgeous.
SMELL: A little pine and a touch of citrus, but the nose is not as strong as I would have expected.
TASTE: Oh, that's tasty. The flavor builds throughout the sip, but there is a strong grapefruit flavor with a bit of lemon sneaking in. A very mild malt backbone helps to balance this one out along with a touch of pine and sweet, tropical fruit. The aftertaste leaves a nice, lingering bitterness. This is a good beer.
MOUTHFEEL: Decent carbonation with a very dry finish. With each sip the Inversion IPA cleanses the palate of everything except the pleasant bitterness mentioned above.
OVERALL: I am impressed. Of course, I loved The Abyss, but the only other beer I've had from Deschutes prior to this was Mirror Pond and I was not terribly impressed. So I did not know what to expect from this one. It turns out, I'm very happy I tried it and I look forward to my next one.

I really enjoyed this IPA. Descheutes Never let's me down with their beer. It has a nice honey golden color. Smell is of a hoppy nature but not overbearingly hoppy. I like my beers super hoppy which would make this one perfect for a none Double IPA sipper. Taste is nice when it hits the palate. Little floral note with a nice amount of bitterness. Smooth going down without the syrupy feel you get from some IPA's. Throughly enjoyed this beer and will definitely drink again!

On tap at the Local Taphouse.
Pours a red colour, head is white. Mild lace but decent on the edge. Nice.
Smells hoppy and pleasant. Touch of rubber, but nice citrus and resin. Mild, crisp. Touch of pine needle and dish detergent. Nice.
Taste is stodgier than expected, quite yeasty on the mid and back with quite a full body. Bit of pine and mild sherbet but yeah, yeasty and chalky. Not quite as much hop cleanliness as I may have expected on the back.
Slight tingle on the back. OK feel.
Not quite as bitter as it could have been, feels a little heavy as well.
