Pour: Bright amber color with 2-fingers of white head that retained decently and had lots of lacing that clung to the glass like glue. Eye-candy for sure.
Smell: Lots of citrusy hops hit the nose from the get-go, but not as much as some other IPAs. I find this a good thing because I don't like an IPA that's just over-the-top hoppy. Some sweet malty aromas underlie the hops and support it. Excellent.
Taste: The front of the palate is dominated by the sweet goodness of caramel malts, more so than your average American IPA. This fades away into a nice citrusy hop back end that's not really that bitter at all, but is a rather pleasant red grapefruit flavor. I was quite surprised, in a good way. I thought it was delicious and well-balanced.
Mouthfeel: Medium in body (a little light maybe for an IPA) with nice active carbonation. Excellent.
Drinkability: I could sit and sip on these all day. Goes down very well, and is very refreshing.
Final Notes: This is my kind of IPA. Not too bitter and with enough malts to go around. I would effectively call this an IPA for malt-heads. Those that like super-hoppy IPAs better look elsewhere because you won't find that here. Stands up well to any flavorful meal.

The Inversion IPA is another solid offering from Deschutes. The beer poured a clear copper with white head. The scent had fresh hops that were more floral leaning. The taste was a nice combination of floral, pine and citrus. The mouthfeel was medium in body with good carbonation. Overall its a solid beer and could be sessioned.
