Pours with less head than many but the lace stains the glass and etches. Smell is strongly of grapefruit and toffee. Some roasty-ness and hints of lemon candy. Amber-brown, and almost clear. Lightly carbonated.
KA-pow! Bitterness starts and ends the flavor. In the middle are grapefruit atop background pine and grassiness, but citrus dominates. The malt sugars try but fail to keep up. Wonderfully, rewardingly bitter and aggressive. Cleansing.
As the beer warms, there's a light savory smell, reminiscent of bullion, with hints of coriander. Pine is more pronounced as the beer warms. Another reviewer used the word "dank." There are some dank smells as the beer approaches room temperature.
Mouthfeel is a bit light: generally I'd like a bit more body, yet I think I will reach for this when I want to wash away malt sweetness altogether. This is a no fooling bitter IPA.
