A- Dark golden/light amber in color, substantial foamy head, leaves thick lacing on the glass

S- Green hop aroma, some citrus

T- Slightly sweet malt with light bitterness that rises to a strong bitterness at the finish, some citrus notes in the middle, aftertaste is dry and bitter

M- Moderate to high carbonation gives a little bit of bite, somewhat light in body though

O- A very bitter, hop-dominated IPA, malt holds the balance until the middle of the drink, then it's all bitterness

Pours clear golden amber, leaning more towards amber. A huge light khaki head leaves tons of lacing.

Smells big of caramel malts, and some pine resin in the back.

Tastes of earthy hops, lightly floral, no citrus at all. Some malts come through in the middle, and a bitter finish.

Almost easy to drink the light to medium body, smooth, with a nice dry finish.

Way too much malt, sorry, but i am not a fan. Not a touch of citrus at all for me, and that makes me disappointed. The boldness of the taste and smoothness save the beer to some degree.

Cheers to Goblinmunkey7 for acquiring this

Consumed 5/7/12

Appearance: Hazy copper color with some golden orange around the edges, creamy white head that retains a nice ring, some wispy lacing

Smell: Remarkably floral and inviting - sweet, flowery citrus (orange and grapefruit) - some sweet, dry pine - malts are very prominent and also really nice - slightly toasted, with a sweet bread aroma - some sweet dough, as well, very clean overall, with a powdery, vaguely candy-like sweetness

Taste: Stupidly balanced - orange and grapefruit flesh, with some mild pith - some resiny pine - as it warms up, some tropical flavors emerge - a moderate amount of bitterness for the style - malts are simply delicious, perfectly sweet and biscuity - bready, doughy, with a slightly toasted edge

Mouthfeel: Exceptionally smooth and nicely carbonated, absurdly drinkable

Overall: Please, sir, I want some more

I was kind of expecting a West Coast hop bomb of sorts, but instead I received something that has more of a Midwest IPA mentality. And I approve heartily. This, along with others that I lump in that category (*cough* Two Hearted) is something I want to drink all day long. But I can't. Sadness.

This beer is crisp and balanced. The hops are pronounced without being overpowering, and are surrounded by a fruity aroma with a delightful apricot finish. While I personally prefer less fruit aroma in my IPA, it is still a refreshing summer drink. The color is a rich amber, still clear enough to see through.

Poured from bottle into tall glass.

A: Medium brown color, with moderate amounts of head. Not particularly clear for an IPA.

S: Yeast and hops are strong, with some grains.

T: Sour beginning, then mellowing to a nice finish. Lots of citrus and hoppy notes.

M: Heavy palate for an IPA.

O: Not bad overall - there's a strong finish to the beer at the end, which is difficult to decide whether I like or not. It's a quality beer, but there are more distinctive IPAs with a richer flavor profile that I'd choose given the chance.

A - pours with one finger of white foam on to of a clear, amber colored body. The head settles fairly quickly but leaves nice lace.

S - citrus hops with notes of orange and lime as well as a bit of caramel.

T - toffee and dry caramel malt up front with some fruity hops. Lemon and orange in the middle with a bit of pine. Finishes with acidic bitterness and dry toast.

M - medium body, moderate carbonation, and a dry finish.

D - the hop character is allright, but it is overly pithy with a lingering acidic dryness that really isn't pleasant.

A: Pours a golden amber color with minimal head. What head it did have faded quickly. Nothing special on the appearance.

S: Mild hop aroma. Not very overpowering, but pleasant. Some faint malt in the background. A little caramel as well to balance it all out.

T: Taste exceeds the smell and appearance in my opinion. Quite hoppy and bitter up front. I can taste more of caramel malt than I got from the smell. After a few more sips, the hops seem to overpower the caramel I got initially.

M: Quite dry and bitter on my tongue. This beer sticks with you a bit. More carbonation than I expected given the minimal head.

O: Overall this a is pretty good IPA. The taste exceeded the smell in my opinion. The more I drank it the better the beer got....as it warmed up a bit I'm sure. Overall well balanced with a strong hop character that is balanced out well with the caramel malts. I'm glad I ran into this one on a trip to St. Louis.
