12oz bottle best by 7/13

Pours a cloudy and dark amber orange with a small sudsy head. Smell is fresh numbing hops and sweet malt. Fresh smelling- reminds me of my homebrew. The first sensation is bitter pine, earthy and full, followed by a blast of grapefruit, finishing with that same grapefruit and tart sweet roasted malt. The bitterness lingers and has the tendency to go medicinal, but otherwise the feel is great: creamy and full.

If you like your beer hoppy, this is an excellent choice.

Pours a hazy dark amber color with a light beige head. lots of tiny bubbles rise from bottom to top, a visiually impressive beer. Smell is very hoppy with some caramel. Taste is very good citrus and floral hops with caramel malt, good hop bitterness good enough for any real hophead. Mouthfeel very smooth with mild carbonation, a little on the light side compared with some more heavy ipas which is not a bad thing. Overall a very good beer, very drinkable! i could drink this all day or any time of the year...not to heavy...not too light, just right.

12 ounces poured into a pint glass.

Looked a nice shade of dark copper.

Smelled...really really light. You get just the faintest of hops and a bit of malt. Not imposing but I do like having it a little stronger.

Taste...Inversion is quite apt a description for it. I wasn't expecting it to be this strong, but those 80 IBU's I'll believe. Its ALL up front, a strong piney hop bite that pulls back into nice toasty malty sweetness...but what gets me is the fact that all the bitterness gets pulled out the moment the malts come to play.

Mouthfeel - A little thick/creamy, making the hops and bitter bite come back as an aftertaste. It doesn't really bother me as much as some other beers, so that counts for something in my book.

Overall - Its intriguing how good this beer is, yet I can't get past their Red Chair NWPA. They're both kind of really up there in quality, but if I were to pick between the two, I'd gravitate toward Red Chair as a general all-around drink.

BUT! this is a really good brew for a hop head or those in the mood for a really hoppy but not so bitter beer.

Add to the fact that this could've been easily screwed up and they made everything work so well...this is definitely worth a try, and I'd probably pick it up again despite my liking of Red Chair. Maybe alternate between the two, but I think Inversion could be good as a fall/winter beer to Red Chair's more spring/summery brightness. Its got a nice warm malt characteristic amid the hops.
