Got this one from jhamel. Thanks, Bohdan!!
I have been waiting for months for the right time to open one of these and tonight, after brewing an imperial stout with gwuilliums and trying to drink an St. Bernardus Abt 12 (we have finally decided that Belgians are definitely not our thing), this was finally the night.
Poured from bottle into tulip.
A: Pours as black and oily as can be. Nice tan colored head. Very tiny carbonation bubbles. Exceptional looking stout.
S: Very slightly sour note on top of REALLY dark roast. I see now how the infection in the 2009 bottle I had would not be easily detected. Expecting the slightly sour nose that this beer has would mask it until it was too late.
T: Layer upon layer upon layer of dark roast and dark coffee and dark chocolate. Beyond deep in it's complexity. What a super tasting dark stout.
M: Perfectly creamy and carbonated.
D: I have already posted hoping to get more!
