Pours black with a deep brown head that is thick and creamy. Awsome coating of the glass that propels this rating to a 5.
S. The smell is awsome to say the least. Creamy chocolate, alcohol , many various "dark" fruits, and dark toasted toast.
Many other "smells" come through with each whiff. Sweet malts dominate with various spiciness.
T. Burnt malts that consist of sweet dark chocolate flavors. A LONG LONG bitter/sweet aftertaste. Strong aloholic bourbon -like flavors. Mexican vanillas and wood flavors are everywhere with this 33% barrel aged brew.
Creamy and bitter are the waring factors. Bitter wins, but creamy comes in a close second. Sweet molassis right behind in third place. WWWAAAhooo!
D. A sipper. WIll age a few to see if the bitterness tames some.
Awsome. A sipper, a memorable brew. Will age two of these for at least a year to see what happens.

Opened on 7/21/14 and poured into Westbrook Snifter. Not often am I moved to write a review but this was surprisingly delicious.
S: mostly molasses and caramel. smell was a let down compared to the taste...was totally expecting a dextrose bomb
T: a nice amount of coffee, chocolate and ending with a nice amount of roast. the bitterness of the finish really balances the brew out so it’s not overly sweet or cloying.
M: chewy and perfectly carbonated. this was one of the highlights of the brew as it’s perfectly carbed and chewy.
O: I really enjoyed this. Barrel Aged beers had recently been letting me down. Too much cloying sweetness and not enough roast and bitter finish. This was a wonderful reminder of how delicious BA stouts can be.
