Poured from 12 oz. bottle into a Sam Adams Perfect Pint glass.
Appearance: Pours a deep amber orange with some ruby red. Lots of rising bubbles. Solid three finger off white head with very good retention. Leaves a good amount of lacing on the glass.
Smell: Very malt forward, but with a nice grassy hop presence. Lots of bready malts upfront. Big hints of caramel, toffee, biscuit, and a little bit of roast. Very earthy and grassy with some spicy herbal hops. Light hints of pine resin and citrus. Its what you would expect from a red.
Taste: Nice and malty like the smell leads. Big taste of English style malts with lots of caramel, toffee, biscuit, tea, and a little hint of roasted malt. Solid balancing hop presence. Spicy, grassy, and spicy hops abound behind the malt. Also a subtle bit of pine resin and citrus. A pretty solid taste.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate level of carbonation. Fairly creamy and smooth. Finishes pretty dry.
Overall: A very solid red ale. I don't know exactly what being organic means for the beer, but it came out pretty solid.
