Pours a clear, brownish amber, darker than I expected for an ale. No cloudiness, just a nice thick head which lingered quite a bit, and a bit of lacing stickiness on retreat as well.
Mild nose, with no detectable aroma. But the hop flavor was pungent and intense on the tongue, and maltiness was detectable when swallowing and exhaling. Almost smokey-toasty caskey, but not yeasty at all, like a hefweizen; a little caramel but dry not sweet, and not near as strong as a stout. Well-balanced between hops and malt, but aftertaste leans toward malt.
Highly drinkable and thirst-quenching, almost like a lager, but with flavor to savor. A bit like British bitters if I remember. A good after sports beer.
