Dark golden, honey color in appearance with a thin head that yields decent lacing. The nose is lemon citurs with big pine aroma, some oakie notes, and I detect some sweetish malt in there somewhere as well. Light malt flavor followed by orange zest. Bitter, piney flavor, and bitterness lingers. It's all about the hops! Feels smooth, goes down easy. Could be syrupy, but feels silky due to the carbonation.
Very nice experiment. I bought it and drank it the next day to ensure freshness, and I was not disappointed. I always get a soapy mouthfeel from very hoppy beers, but the oils from the fresh hops came through easily without being too bitter or harsh on the tongue. This is super earthy too. Lots of grass and leafy goodness. Perfect brew to enjoy after a hike or grilling brats at the campsite. With the pricepoint being what it is, I hope they brew this again. Now if only they can make the hop cones mature faster so I can get one for camping season!

Well it's orange-tan, pretty cloudy, with a so-so head and lace. Looks aren't this one's strong point, but it does get better.
Aroma and taste were quite nice. A bit on the pungent side, fruity and a little piney, with a solid maltiness and a tinge of floral and fruity notes.
Tastes like a bigger beer than it is, almost like one of those kinda malt-bomb IPAs, but still drinking like a pale ale, and not heavy on the alcohol as far as how you feel after drinking it. This one is a bit strange in that it actually seems like it has more alcohol than it does. Not a detractor, just interesting.
Overall it's a tasty one. I expect nothing less from Deschutes.
