Pours an amber and orange color with a creamy sand-colored head that sticks around and leaves lacing all down the glass.
Smells like citrus hops with a strong floral background. Notes of caramel and a little breadiness show up to keep the hops in check. Alcohol is there, but hardly noticeable.
The hops bring the bitterness, but the malts really help to balance the beer. Sweet, almost fruity notes, as well as caramel keep the bitterness from overwhelming. The alcohol brings some warmth, but not enough to be too boozy.
Smooth, but bitter and well carbonated, it really goes down easy. Medium bodied and a warm from the alcohol.
Overall, a great DIPA. Not as insanely hoppy as some, which I appreciate. The hops are always kept in balance, making this a very drinkable and enjoyable beer. Dangerous at 9%. Like Hop in the Dark before it, I wish this was a year-round beer; but it's not, So I'll take it when I can get it.
