Enjoyed out of a 22 oz bottle on 1/21/13. Bottle dated best by 4/6/13, so assuming bottling date of 1/6/13, making this 2 weeks fresh. Poured into a 13 oz Spiegelau snifter.
Appearance: Pours an amber to orange color. Cloudy and opaque. About a one-finger white head on this one. Moderate lacing.
Smell: Oranges dominate the nose here, but pleasantly mixed with pine, lemon, and floral notes. Even without a large head the hops are nicely displayed.
Taste: A nice crisp hop taste right up front, consistent with the flavor profile on the nose, which doesn't back down throughout and includes a nice bitter finish. As big as the ABV is on this one I was expecting something more malty but true to the description on the bottle, the hops dominate throughout. No alcohol evident here - this will get you into trouble fast if you're not careful. A slight bit of sour funk on the aftertaste takes this from a 5 to a 4.5.
Mouthfeel: Very clean and crisp, but smooth and dangerously drinkable. Not terribly light or terribly heavy, right in the sweet spot.
Overall: A fantastic imperial IPA. Not much that I would change here - definitely a top 20 IPA for me, pushing for the top 10. I will drink it whenever available.
