Appearance: Pours an appropriately reddish-amber hue, the off-white head nearly spilling out of the glass from a vigorous pour. Retention is great and the head sticks all over the glass as it slowly settles.

Smell: The aroma doesn't explode from the glass like you may expect a West Coast IPA to, but once you get past that it's quite good. Floral, herbal, dank and juicy with a hint of caramel and toast.

Taste & mouthfeel: Wet floral/herbal hoppiness up-front, juicy grapefruit beneath that. Light bodied, crisp and semi-dry, there's a touch of balancing caramel malt flavor that dries up quite a bit in the finish. This is pretty easy on the palate, and while none of the flavors are especially bold, it's very well crafted and enjoyable. A subtler beer from Deschutes, but a good one.

Poured into a tulip glass. Off-white, 3 finger head witih good lacing. Clear, copper/red colored body.

Smell was malty and slightly caramely. Fruity and floral hop aroma.

Taste was well balanced. Nice maltiness with hints of roasted malts. Mildy sweet. Nice mellow bitterness than lends fruity and floral hop characters with a subtle citrus taste.

Mouthfeel was slightly sticky, medium body and good carbonation.

Drinkability was good. Not overly bitter and well balanced.

A more easy drinking IPA if you arent after a huge hop profile.

Pleasantly surprised to see this beer on tap at a local watering hole.

Pours a light red / amber color, some haze, and a nice off white head.

Aromas are a little light, some earthy hops, and candied malts.

Taste has a nice light sweetness. Some caramel malts, easy hard candy flavors, and a general spiciness. Hops provide a nice balance on the finish. Mostly of pine and earthy hops, a nice little bite to clean this one up.

Mouthfeel is good, full, and well carbonated.

Drinkability is nice. All in all, a solid beer. To me, this seems more like a hoppy amber than an IPA. But whatever it is, it's tasty and worth trying.

From Notes:

22oz Single from Wilburs in Ft. Collins, can't remember the price, around $5 if not mistaken.

A: Copper, nice clarity, about half an inch worth of cream colored head, nice retention, big sticky gobs of lacing, nice looking beer.

S: Hops, and a fair amount of them, pine and citrus both, really gets after the nose, slight amount of caramel in the back, but this one is definitely a hops forward sort of beer.

T: Lots of hop resins and flavors, not a lot of malt at all, surprisingly low in bitterness, as noted on the bottle. Underneath it all is a slight roastiness from the malt and a bit of caramel. Citrus and pine really dominate this one though.

M: Very thin, little carbonation, feels very watery, not impressed here.

D: Easy to drink and quite tasty, more like an XPA than an IPA to me though. A little more body would be nice on this one, I may try it again, this would be a good beer in six pack form.

From notes. Clear, copper, active, with modest white head, good retention and lacing. Very attractive. SMELL is rich and malty, balanced by floral and grassy hops. Has legs. TASTE like gthe nose, a smooth and delicately balanced blend of rich maltiness and floral hoppiness with restrained bitterness and a clean finish. FEEL med/full body, some fiz, abit of warming and a rich viscous texture. OVERALL totally sessionable, full flavored IPA with some depth and complexity.

retired eh. well i musta got one of the last bottles. THANKS John.
A cloudy dark amber beer. Has a creamy off white head with nice lace. The aroma is grassy/herbal and malty. With a biscuity background. The taste has a slight sweet apple note on the tip of your tongue. Followed by a caramel note in the middle. There is a peppery dry hop bite on the finish. kinda close to an english style IPA. Again thanks John this was a nice drink.

A: Clear copper/amber color. Poured a 1 finger light tan head that dissipated to a broken skim. Laced in thick rings.

S: Big floral hops, citrus and grapefruit. Slightly sweet bready malts.o

T: Very prominent floral hops. Doughy caramel malt in the middle. Sharply bitter in the finish to balance.

M: Medium body. Balanced carbonation. Smooth and coating.

D: Very flavorful and easy to drink. Nicely balanced; plenty of malt and sufficient bittering hops. Disguises the abv very wells.

Pours a lively coppery red with a decent head, which drops to nice lacing. The aroma leaps out with floral and slightly citric hops, The flavor has a pungent hop flavor, mostly floral, but with a pine bite on the finish. There is relatively little malt character, and not too much in terms of hop bitterness, but there is a lovely tea-like feeling and a sharp bite of carbonation with every swallow. The mouthfeel is fairly thin, but carbonated. The only quibble I have is that there is a late developing slight sourness, but it is not a major problem - just enough to hold me back in the B range, where it could otherwise be a solid A.
