2009 Vintage poured into a snifter.

A: Pours a light brown (almost orange) with lots of Ruby tints. Low clarity through the glass but you can see lots of bubbles from the carbonation. There is a frothy inch of head that sits on top of the beer after my pour. The head disappears quickly but leaves a sticky, soapy head.

S: Sweet smelling beer, lots of sweet carmel malt with a hint of bitter hop. The bitterness is from the fading hops.

T: A touch of oak, very sweet malt, and carmel syrup. The beer is sweet at first but then finished with an alcohol heat and a little bitterness from the hops fading away.

M: Plenty of tingling sensations from the carbonation and the alcohol heat. The finish is nice and slick.

D: How much could I drink this beer in one night? Well one bottle was enough to sip over a couple of hours. Would I drink this beer again? Certainly. I enjoyed the flavors but wished I had let is sit longer and mature/mellow some more.

Poured into a tumbler a cellar temperature.
A - Pours a dark amber color with a tan head. The head is long lasting.
S - And strong malt smell, paired with and equal hop smell.
T - Malty with some oaky tones. The red wine barrels are not very evident. The hops are a little harsh given it's listed as an English barley wine.
M - medium viscosity with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O - A little harsh for an English barely wine. Drinkable, but not up to the level of hype that it has received. For something aged in wine barrels the wine character is lost amongst the hops. Might as well use bourbon barrels.

Poured from a wax topped bottle. 2014 version.

A- Dark brown with a cocoa colored head. Poured into a tulip glass with a nice 3 finger head

S-Please bring us some figgy pudding and bring it right here. Huge fig smell, and a hint of caramel

T-Huge caramel upfront, followed by a crush of figs, and then closes with a merlot taste. You can taste the wine barrel in the close.

M-Sticky like a caramel party in my mouth, nice and thick.

O- Not my thing, but this is how this beer should taste. I feel like I just ate a fig newton followed by a Snickers bar. Fantastic.
