Pours a rich oak, with a finger of off-white head that leaves a few spots of lace as it drops to a film. More or less a classic barleywine appearance. Sweet nose, with brown sugar, alcohol, dark fruit, earth and perhaps the odd sweet citrus hop note peeking through. Whoah! Very easy drinking flavour and palate! More reminiscent of a English Old Ale, this hides its ABV exquisitely, and ties in all the elements in the nose without letting them run to excess. Highly impressive balance. The brown sugar and malt heavy character comes through nicely, and there's a nice light hop bite in the finish to cut the sweetness. Its also lighter thn I imagined, and this is something I have to restrain myself from drinking quicker than I should.
Truly phenomenal. Its an American barleywine that smells like an English barleywine and tastes like an English old ale. All you need to know is that its worth every cent. Cheers Eric!

Sat in my cellar couple of years in ideal conditions.
Served in a Deschutes tulip - what else?
Appearance is beautiful. Ruby red. Clear. Minimal head dissipates to small ring of bubbles around the edge.
Aroma a bit thin. Light aromas.
Taste as expected from a four year old barleywine. Typically smooth no hop feel or taste. This allows other tastes to shine. Cherries, caramel, oak dominate.
Great sipper but so smoothed out from its age that it's also easy to drink it too fast if not careful.
Love this beer and can't wait for the anticipated next release later this year.
I felt the need to pull the trigger based on rumors that it had gone South.
Not true in this case.
