What an amazing smell. Tons of chocolate and coffee, with some great bourbon notes. The alcohol burns the nostrils slightly. The taste is very close to the smell actually. Just what I would expect. Only difference might be that I taste a little more of that bourbon than anticipated, but definitely not overdoing it.
Still, very rich and complex. A bit of a burnt/roasted aftertaste that a porter typically gives off. The coffee outweighs the chocolate here for me. However, the overall taste seems perfectly balanced. Mouthfeel is a tad syrupy and thick. Drinkability suffers a little bit whenever you have something this rich and decadent. All in all, a fantastic beer that I should really consider picking up a few more to cellar.
