22oz (best after 9/1/2014) into a tulip. Pours a murky brown w/ a loose 1-finger head.
Aroma is powerfully tart and oaky. Smells like a pretty standard Flanders oud bruin. Sweet brown sugar, sour cherries and vinegar.
Taste is puckeringly sour and dry. Lots of barrel oak. Unfortunately, the sourness overpowers everything else. Gets a bit more balanced as it warms, however.
Mouthfeel is medium-bodied with a dry finish.
Overall a pretty rough beer. Reminds me a little bit of the Dissident, which is also a little too far on the vinegary scale for my taste.

Been hearing some mixed things about this one lately so figured the time is high to open my bottle. Consumed from a deschutes teku.
a - brew pours a deep ruby mahogany that settles in the glass as an almost plum purple. Nothin fizzy head fizzes away quickish.
s - nose screams cherry tart from across the room but closer inspection reveals a mixture of brown sugar, chocolate, mustiness and some vinous characteristics. The smells seem to clash quite a bit and not all that pleasing.
t/m/o - taste is also a mixed up concoction that doesn't seem to know what it wants to be. Mothers are some redeeming Flanders qualities in that one but they battle for supremacy with some brown sugar notes and the wine barrel. Feel is a bit puckers but mostly confused. Overall, a bit of a let down from a brewery that has come to mean flavorful brews...this one misses the mark, but not a total drain pour. I don't see myself getting through the bottle though.
