Pours a rusty amber, with nice 2-finger head of off-white foam. Thick wall of lace.

Nose is toasty malty, with a definite tone of crisp citrus sharing the limelight. Nice balance already!

Taste is sharp citrus hops, but it's well-balanced against a toasty malt backdrop.

A superb pale ale, with wonderful drinkability and an ideal session ale!

A pale ale taken just short of an IPA with a wonderful piney, resinous aroma and taste with a full-bodied malt backbone. One of my favorite all-time beers.

From the brewer: About Red Chair Northwest Pale Ale
The citrus punch of a big IPA, minus the one-dimensional hop sledgehammer. Seven select European and domestic malts round out the edges for a complex, copper-colored brew. Like its namesake ski lift, it's an insider's ride to fresh thrills.

Appearance: This pale ale pours a deep copper color and is topped with ¾” of white head that turns into a thin layer rather slowly.
Smell: The smell of Red Chair is a tasty blend of malt and hops that has me liking this beer already.
Taste: The taste of this beer is exactly what I expect out of a pale ale a few hops blended with a good amount of malt and well blended together to compliment each other.
Mouthfeel: This is a medium bodied beer that is easy to drink like a pale ale should be.

A - Two fingers worth of late to develop dense crisp creamy whipped off white colored frothy goodness... Really good retention... Once receded there is a full veil of rich creamy lacing... The color is a light and warm inviting caramel... There are some pale straw color undertones... Loaded with moderate paced carbonation throughout... A slight film and a good bit of lacing clings to the glass...

S - A stellar aroma from the get go... Equal parts citrusy hop goodess and fresh whole flower hops... This sits atop a rock solid malty base of bread, toffee and caramel... Simple, straight forward and uber effective...

T - Exactly as the nose would lead one to believe... The hops are the first to arrive on the palate... They take on a mix of citrus and pine which were in perfect harmony... The malt base is rock solid... There are notes of graham cracker pie crust, toffee and caramel... A very subtle and refreshing ginger presence on the finish...

M - Medium bodied... Smooth and sturdy... Moderate carbonation... Goes down easily sip after sip...

D - This is an absolutely stellar American Pale Ale... Equal parts hops and malt... I don't have a single bad thing to say about this brew... This one ends up being much more than the sum of its glorious parts... If this were a year round offering, it would be in my fridge with regularity...
