Very dark brown with huge fluffy tan head with great retention and uneven lacing. Aroma of roasted citrus hops;) Fine balance between roasted malts and hops with a coffee like finish. As it warms, a brown sugary sweetness adds another dimension. Very smooth mouthfeel with light bitter linger and a touch of carbonated bite.
A pretty tasty beer it is a very straightforward, balanced attempt at the new style. It wasn't enough to make me drool for another one but I certainly wouldn't mind another one at some point in the future, preferably warmed to nearly room temp for the added sweetness.

A: Black with a creamy lightish brown head.
S: Lots of floral and citric hops in the nose, and maybe just a touch of roasted malt, coffee, and dark chocolate.
T: Tons of pine and floral hops, yet not overly bitter, some citrus, some coffee and roasted malt. Hop heavy.
M: Smooth and full bodied, a bit creamy.
O: A great example of the style, and one of my favorites from Deschutes.
