App - opaque in color, pours a modest sized tan head, creamy and with good retention.
Aroma - Malt sweetness and piney hop aroma meld flawlessly. Some mango, and a bit of chocolate from the dark malt.
Taste - hop flavor not as prominent as in aroma, but piney and evident. Some roastiness from the dark malt, and finishes quite bitter with the roast of a robust porter.
MF - Medium body and carbonation. Hops get close to astringent on the tongue. Slight alcoholic warming
Overall - A mix of a porter and an IPA, definitely with more dark malt character than some examples. Too roasty and bitter for my taste, but a well made beer (just not my favorite interpretation of the style).
